here you go folks, I used my best rhetoric to quickly put this one together.

Representative/Senator ” _______”

I am writing you today as a concerned citizen regarding the growth of BCS college football and the its lasting economic benefit to the City of Dallas. As you are no doubt aware, Texas A&M University has started down the path to exit the Big 12 conference for the SEC. There is little doubt in the minds of those legally well informed on the subject that this will come to pass in the near future. This likelihood presents a unique opportunity for the City of Dallas in that at least one university will be needed to replace the rift left in A&M’s departure. Such a university that would add to the profile of Dallas both in its marketability and intellectual integrity is Southern Methodist University. Surely the strong family atmosphere and values of SMU, combined with millions in revenue that BCS conference games would provide to Dallas nearly every weekend of the fall, adds up to a winning combination that would strengthen this city and indeed the region of Northern Texas.

Keep Dallas’ interests at heart and look to make this opportunity a reality.

Best regards,

“________”

only way SMU gets any serious consideration is if Texas and OU want a championship game and want 12 members...and SMU agrees to take a very small share of conference revenue

Texas carried us for years in the SWC days. They aren't likely to do it again unless the economics are much more favorable. Unlike the disgruntled northern members of the Big XII, I would hope that SMU would welcome an equitable share of revenue...which would probably still exceed what we can ever hope to get out of CUSA

all of those who talk about SMU delivering the Dallas market should be reminded that Texas, rather than SMU, has delivered the dallas market for a long, long time. Same goes for you, U of Houston

We could start by not objecting to the Longhorn Network and by agreeing to be one of the conference games on it, i.e. they get a lion share of the revenue. Reality is reality and we can't be too demanding. Membership itself is worth it, especially by bringing Big12 schools to Ford, expanded to 45K.
