We need the exposure. It isn't like we belong to the Big X network or have a huge state school fan base nationally. Thus, we have to buy exposure. Couple this with improved TV coverage (remember a couple of years ago when we felt lucky to have one broadcast game a year?) and it helps develop a broader fan base.

I hope we don't spend a lot on this but I'm afraid of the truth. Does anyone know?

If it's more than 30k we are allocating in the wrong areas.

$30K? I forget who, but someone told me the budget for it this year is more than 10 times that figure.

So in one thread it has gone from $30,000 to $50,000, to $200,000, to $300,000. Regardless of the amount, I think I will wait for someone that knows to throw out a figure.

But I will say this, I can tell you every scene from last nights Seinfeld but I cannot tell you one billboard displayed on my ride home this evening.

This is very effective marketing that lasts the whole year. The sponsors like Southwest Airlines, pay for the costs, including SMU marketing itself during the commercials.
This isn't the whole reason why a recruit may take SMU serious of course, but it is an another ingredient that leads to their decision. And all the episodes can be watched by recruits at times when the coaches can't contact them personally. And you have to know the parents eat this up....my son going there to be a part of that SMU family?....yes!

Enough already, we know your stance on this. They are two different things to market the program.

I was told last year from someone in the AD that it was $250K.
