Welcome back. How was the cruise?

Our group was seated with 2 Big 12 South former Cheerleaders from Texas Tech and Okie St. -male cheerleaders who were very much in love. I am not making this up. Don't tell smupony94 or I will never live it down

Back from the game and glad to hear you had an extra special time Stallion.

Had to take the long way home because of the 16 mile long fire that apparently has burned 14000 acres in Bastrop. Was eerie seeing it from afar

There was an intense fire today in college station right off of 6. Several big trees engulfed when I drove by

KP's a junior QB on a D1 team. There shouldn't have to be any guessing as to his commitment level or his devotion to the program. Regardless of what happens on the field, he needs to be out there. I don't think coddling is the right answer. Nor do I think a "good week of practice" is going to fix what's going on here.

I did the same thing as soon as the game was over. I grabbed a magazine and headed straight for my locker room......come to think of it, it may have just been the chicken wings.

A kid doesn't want to be around his team or even look them in the face. IT isn't because he isn't a team player, it is near unendurable shame.

Padron just wanted to be alone and get his act together. He is embarrassed and insecure with his teammates. He doesn't want to face them in his current deep funk of shame. How his teammates respond is more important. They can pull him through this or they can cut him loose. If they do, then he is done. And they won't care whether he sings well or not. They will care if he gets his act together and improves.

Now he either gets better or he doesn't. Either way, the team benefits.

And walking with the team before a game has very little shame factor involved. Screwing up early in a game and getting benched (and costing a team a chance) is a far different situation.

I don't give a flying flip at the moon for singing after a game. I do understand the shame this kid is feeling and the real question, the most interesting thing about this whole debacle, is how Padron responds in just 5 days.

couldn't agree more.

I guess the money the TCU booster were giving Kenneth Davis was pretty decent.

Hopefully ALL of our players are competitive and want to start. I understand that KP is like that but I was glad JJ put JJ in. KP HAS to perform and if he can't, his competitive teammate gets a chance to perform. I was disappointed that more pass plays weren't called in the 2nd half. I also understand that he was embarrassed---heck I was embarrassed--but he IS part of the team and he should have been with the team after the game. I have always thought KP would step up and become the QB we all want him to be, but it needs to happen now. The whole game was a mess.

Maybe he should have approached his teammates individually with gestures of apology ASAP, "one and out", then show support of his backup.

Padron just wanted to be alone and get his act together. He is embarrassed and insecure with his teammates. How his teammates respond is more important. They can pull him through this or they can cut him loose. If they do, then he is done. Absolutely, that together with actions in practice this week. Jones after the game did not commit to a starter, a bad sign for Padron.

Screwing up early in a game and getting benched (and costing a team a chance) is a far different situation. Exactly, the quick decisive move by Jones tells me, and I think Padron as well Jones has lost confidence in his ability to deliver. Padron thought he would be returning like he did last year when Jones put McDermot in to settle him down or to shake him up which ever way you prefer to look at it. Jones kept McDermot in the game and used time outs at the end to give him as many snaps as possible to prepare him for next week.

When the game was over, I believe Padron accepted without further fight a change in pecking order and left the presence of the team (is this a sign of quitting?).

I don't give a flying flip at the moon for singing after a game. I do understand the shame this kid is feeling and the real question, the most interesting thing about this whole debacle, is how Padron responds in just 5 days. To Sing or Not to Sing is irrelevant, stand with the team in Silence is very understandable. He was still Very Much in the Spotlight leaving the team was critical.

I feel for Padron because yes he is still just a big kid but the team's best interest should prevail over the comfort of one player who has been given every opportunity to succeed and be the MAN.

McDermot has worked to get a shot and has outperformed Padron in the clutch, do you bench him? I say NO, Hell No.

This all boils down to what kind of angry he is
-angry over his performance and ready to do better
or
-angry b/c he sees his starter job disappearing

I have been waiting for you (sand bagger) to show up, you being out on Padron's limb. I knew you would be an apologist. You were very quick to criticize Bo Levi Mitchel who showed class and supported his teammates through the end of the season and then made a personal career choice to leave with his coaches blessing. You further criticize his success success after his National Championship MVP performance. You appear to me a hypocrite.

Now you are the Apologist for a player who left the Team while they were under going the humilation and scrutiny of the Students singing the school song, not to mention the 90,000 TAMU fans who reveled in the spectacle. Some may interpret Padron's absence as a sign of quitting the team.

As far as your concern on how Padron responds the rest of the week and your total lack of recognition of the fact that it will be how June Jones and the TEAM that sticks together reacts is my question to you...

I believe Jones is a fair man and will support the quarterback who performed the best against TAMU.

I talked to Kyle today. He told me he'd had to take a big crap since halfway thru the 3rd quarter and he just couldn't hold it anymore, thus the jog to the clubhouse.

(tell me how this is any less credible than some dude's twitter account)

I'm curious how many of the people who have strong opinions on how a DI athlete should handle himself after possibly flushing his career down the toilet ever played any level of sports beyond high school varsity. All this "Kyle should have done this stuff" is garbage. What Kyle should do is whateve it takes for him to prove to himself, coaches and teammates that he's up to the job. I can assure you his line has an opinion about his play but could give a damn about where he is for Varsity.

Wait, you actually talked to Kyle? What a novel concept, find out what the hell was going on with him rather than making assumptions and trashing him. He had two crappy series in the biggest game of his career to this point, and everyone is suddenly ready to run him out of town. The kid who was in the top 10 in the nation during his first full season as a starter at ANY level (and it was considered a sophomore slump year for him). Unless you were in the locker room or inside his or the coaches' or any of the players' heads, we don't have a damned clue where he stands with Jones or anyone else. Jones admitted Kyle didn't look like himself during those series, hence the switch. I for one don't know what all goes on on the sideline or the locker room, so let's give this kid a chance to redeem himself and hang up the torches and pitchforks at least until after the UTEP game. This week is gut-check time for everyone on that team, coaches, players and fans. Last night is not the measure of Kyle, the team or the season; it's just how it started.
