Hi.
UNT: The premier research institution of North Texas and only university in D/FW with both medical and law schools! Leading the way for D/FW now and in the future!

UNT couldn't even fill up that new stadium against an in state opponent. Beyond lame.

Ron Meyer says SMU should go indie, bring in Notre Dame, Penn State and Alabama.

Sad reality......the way we feel about UNT joining CUSA is the same way most big 12 schools feel about adding a UH, SMU to big 12.

I read one of the articles speculating about UT to the ACC and I thought to myself that SMU really wouldn't be a bad fit in the ACC (except for geography and currently weak basketball program). SMU's profile as an institution is not all that different than BC, Duke, Wake Forest, or Miami. Frankly, I think SMU is a better fit in the ACC than Texas Tech. And other than geography, I think the ACC would be a better conference fit for SMU than the Big-12. Of course, I realize it won't happen (at least not right now).

I think the meeting in Oklahoma on Sunday was for UT to try to convince OU that they should all stay and OU probably said give up your special benefits and we will. UT said we need to think about it can you give us some time and OU said yes a short time, probably days not weeks. I think OU will give up it's special benefits because OSU and T Boone carry a lot of weight in OK. I not so sure the PAC thinks UT is the crown jewel. There are some very strong schools and a strong commissioner and I am not so sure they want a bully in their back yard. If UT wants to come and is willing to play by their rules then they will be accepted, but if not then OU and OSU will be accepted by themselves. I don't know what will happen to TT if UT goes independent and OU and OSU go to the PAC. Since the UT network is not gaining traction going to the PAC may be the excuse UT and ESPN need to get out of a bad deal.

As for us, I think our best chance of getting into an AQ conference is based upon one of the TV networks wanting us in a conference and putting pressure on.

I think the ACC is the perfect fit for SMU.

ACC would be a great fit. Problem is that we would not win a conference basketball game for the next 10 years.

Not even. The gap between UNT/SMU is MUCH wider than any gap between SMU/BCS -- fact. Most BCS schools have 1/2 - 1/3 the endowment SMU has, are far less of a school, and aren't in a major metro like Dallas. UNT's ridiculous endowment of $50mm is embarrassing be D-I standards.

Heil, if that is the case than Rice should be joining the SEC since their endowment of $3 BILLION is one of the largest in the country!!!!
