Re: Fans at tonight's game (09/17)...A letter from JJ in ordFan support is pathetic. I'm in sec 205 getting rowdy every game and all the people around me stare in disgust. Maybe SMU should sell beer during the game to energize the crowd!
Pony Up!
Re: Fans at tonight's game (09/17)...A letter from JJ in ordCan we do these kinds of whiny posts when we're not right in the middle of the biggest reshuffle in college football history, please? Let's keep it positive. Thanks.

That's ridiculous. That is what these boards are all about. I can't stand it when a legitimate discussion occurs...and someone has to come in with some adult-in-the-room. The point I originally made was that perhaps the Mustang Club, via a note from JJ, could implore season ticket holders to either make sure they show up or at least make sure that they get the tickets to people who would utilize the tickets. That is not far flung from what JJ attempted to do late last season, when he helped sponsor school buses with kids, in order to help fill seats at a game over the holidays. The only people who people who are insulting the message boards are people like you feeling they have to daddy people. And I say that with love.

just like the students. It is going to take a bit of time before our student body is full of kids that love college football. We just didn't attract a lot of that demographic for a while.[/quote] Whoa hold on there buddy don't put this on the students. As a recent graduate I can say with certainty that the SMU student body loves college football, just not SMU football. Everybody had a team they cheered for and it sure as hell wasn't SMU. We don't remember when SMU was good because none of us were born. Personally, I have no real loyalty to SMU's football program because it is ALWAYS over hyped. When I first enrolled I was told we would probably be going to a bowl (in 07) and then all that hoopla over June Jones arriving in his first year and nothing changed. The first game I ever went to we got rocked by TTU, didn't even score a touchdown and looked like a H.S. football team. After the 3rd quarter I went back and everybody in Boaz was watching much better teams on TV and it has stayed that way for the rest of the year. I was especially a big fan of the back to back 1 win seasons. We are finally getting better though and getting big wins. That's going to get student support. It has [deleted] to do with the type of kids enrolled. So keep that crap to yourself.
Re: Fans at tonight's game (09/17)...A letter from JJ in ordi spoke to some smu freshmen students tonight at the game. they are very enthusiastic about the team. we are headed up. the students are getting behind the team. top 25 in a couple of weeks if we take care of bidness.
Fans at tonight's game (09/17)...A letter from JJ in order?Rode the shuttle from the stadium to paschal high school after the game and there were a couple of guys wearing SMU gear who I would guess were students or perhaps recent grads. The whole time they were talking about auburn and some other sec team, although I did not catch which one. They each kept using the word "we" to refer to those other schools which they presumably grew up watching or perhaps just adopted along the way. I was thinking "SMU with the biggest win in years, and two guys who were at least interested enough to go to the game still would rather talk about some other teams.". Reminder of how much has to be overcome to capture the front runners like the guy who posted just above me. At least those kids were out at the game, I give them credit for that. Obviously plenty that would not even bother.
