Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIIModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIITurner-Orsini better have a plan.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIITcu's buyout is $5 million and 27 months notice, per the interwebs. This is very specific. Big east's review for continued BCS membership is coming up. That is why BE wanted TCU in the first place. It wasn't to get the valuable dfw TV market. They get to count tcu's 2 BCS bowl games and BCS rankings toward their conference, which is big because BE has no BCS teams beyond conference winners, unlike other BCS conferences. The cost to BE if TCU bails is incalculable. BE will fight to keep TCU unless it completely implodes, especially with Pitt and syracuse gone.

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIIThis is beyond turner orsini...hope Gerald j ford has some good friends
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XII
I guess the 27 months notice is much worse than the $5 million. Their clock has not even started yet has it? All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIIno school has been prevented from changing conferences yet, not sure why TCU would be the first. They can just say, 'sue us' and we'll tie you up in court, we joined before Pitt and Cuse bailed. Material adverse event, contract void.
I think TCU getting a first invite is only good for us if we are under serious current consideration also. We may be seen as complimentary, but if we aren't seen that way now, we probably never will be. I just don't have any view that we can earn our way in after a few years. Too many things can prevent it: June could leave, he might bench our best QB, BYU could change its mind after seeing TCU join, or they may stay at 10 forever. Beat TCU now, I hope McDermott is ready.
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIIBig 12 is over for us. Time to start thinking outside the box. Or be content to be king of the midgets.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIILittle people not midgets
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIISimply states they have moved up or are moving up. Guess what, we are too. As more and more drop out from accepting (ND, BYU, etc), everyone moves up.
Can TCU get out of their commitment to BE? Will B12 stop at 10? They were slow to react last time....maybe they will be more proactive this time. Last edited by SMU89 on Thu Sep 22, 2011 9:06 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIIDoes anyone really think one win vs. TCU is going to get us a BCS invite? c'mon man. Yes, I want to beat those toads, but one game doesn't get us in. it's a start, but we need a series of 9+ win seasons as well as momentum and serious commitment from admin, fans, city, politicians, etc.
If we aren't being seriously considered now, one win isn't going to help really. If we don't get in now, we need to show that we can consistently compete, draw fans, draw Dallas market, improve facilities, and make the commitment necessary to get AQ status. It took TCU a long time to get where they are, and they arent really assured of anything yet. They've switched conferences 5 times in 15 years, made baby steps, improved every year, but proved that they could do it CONSISTENTLY. No free lunches.
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIIThe knee-jerk reaction of some people on this site is absolutely astounding. I sure hope it doesn't carry over to important parts of their life.
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XII
of course one win is not gonna get us invited to anything. Our program needs to beat TCU exactly because we aren't getting invited anywhere and the inevitable black cloud that is gonna come with that if TCU goes Big 12. Call it a consolation prize. The point is we can't keep posting 7-5 seasons with nothing but wins over CUSA schools and NW State and think that is gonna make any difference or that we are on track. When do we think it starts? Next year? The only way any real momentum starts is to get the first big win and there are only so many chances with our schedule. We need to be like 6-1 going into November, and then maybe some real excitement will start, top 25 ranking etc. Or we can just hope for a good season in 2015. This was supposed to be a strong year for us with a senior laden O-line. Next year could be relatively ugly on offense, looks like june is burying KP so we will have a young QB along with a mostly new OLine. TCU is vulnerable now after losing Dalton and so many starters, or as vulnerable as they are gonna be anytime soon.
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XII
They should probably figure out how to beat Kansas State before they start worrying about championship games.
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XII
Sure about that? Seems to me that the Big 10 champion was always sweating it out the weekend of conference championships to make sure they didn't get leap-frogged by a team ranked right behind them that beat another top school that improved their BCS %.
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XII
Difference is Big 12 is going to play games on championship saturday instead of being idle like the BIG Ten was.
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIIThe team needs to win. And we need to convince friends, family, co-workers and anyone else to support "Dallas' team"... And get F**king rowdy at home games!
Pony Up!
