Because our Uni's against Army were weak. They looked pieced together at the last minute with existing uniform parts. The Ohio reaction is exactly what our players and recruits would do. I'm all for it, if they do it right and bust it out for a big game. We have great colors and they will never change, but this is what gets recruits and players excited these days...

Totally agree. I tend to believe they were done right initially, but traditionalist pressure from somewhere forced them to dismantle the bowl uniform, making it look pieced together.

Given the leaked helmet pic, I have a feeling the team saw the intended design and were deflated when they found out it was dumbed down.

No excuse for how they played, but I bet most of the players were pretty bummed out.

The problem with the black wasn't the color per se, but the fact that we were playing the BLACK Knights. The whole special black uniform/black out concept was just idiotic when timed to conincide with a game against a team whose ACTUAL colors include black. Don't give us the BS about "honoring" the Armed Forces when what you are really doing is trying to pander to the demented fashion desires of a 19 year old.

And judging from the state of college football uniforms these days, I would wager that 18-22 year olds get jazzed about any new, stupid looking uniform, however Arena Leaugue Football it looks -- doesn't have to be black.

But the young kids like them, I like them (maybe 33 years old is the cutoff and after that you are too old.) Recruits like them, and thats all that matters to me.

Why don't we sew horse's tails onto each uniform or put something that looks like a tail painted onto the pants? Now that would be so hideous it was absolutely make every talk show. It would also look like a skid mark on their pants. If Maryland wore those horrid unis the last two games, we can certainly wear something truly awful.

Not sure why people are still upset over black. It has become a default color in college and something players clearly look forward to wearing. The only thing wrong with SMU's current black jerseys is they missed the whole point. They look old and outdated. SMU doesn't have to have black, but something innovated would help attract recruits and show that the mustangs are not out of touch. College football has changed dramatically, and if you still don't see what a powerful tool uniforms can be, research Oregon and their rise to success.

Oregon's successs has nothing to do with their uniforms...the uniform maker is a whole different story...

I still don't understand why you can't have many different uni's that incorporate the schools traditions...No Black....

If everyone is wearing black is it really that cool????

agreed. we have awesome colors, and there's nothing wrong with a little black or even gray. i'd love to see what Nike or UA could do with our unis.
