Re: The Nightmare Scenario Taking Shape
Rising tide lifts all boats. TCU's tide just rose. TCU will do very well in the Big12. A middle of the road team in a non-BCS will become middle of the road in a BCS conference because their effort and commitment is middle of the road. A winning non-BCS will win in the BCS in time. Re: The Nightmare Scenario Taking ShapeThanks couch'em I see your point. I don't know if I agree with it totally but I see what you're saying.
The Nightmare Scenario Taking ShapeOver reaction - get off the meds. Wait our turn and be the next Boise or TCU non BCS
Re: The Nightmare Scenario Taking ShapeSo I've been thinking about it and actually most of this conference reallingnment talk is not as life or death As even I hve felt before. AT End of the day there still needs to be a way for a team outside AQ confrences to participate in the BCS bowls or the entire scheme has serious anti-trust issues (personally i think they already have anti-trust issues but I see some of their merits). The benifit of being in a aq confe\erence is you get more money from tv and you generate more auto money from BCS games. they are nice things but do not make or break a program.
If we build to the point where we are like Boise and TCU (we win our conference almost every year and go undefeated or only have 1 loss each year we will be fine. we will get recruites who can play and will get our shots at the sugar, rose, fiesta, or orange bowl, hell if the chips fall right maybe even the NCG.

Re: The Nightmare Scenario Taking ShapeOh and we are still in CUSA for 2011.
Re: The Nightmare Scenario Taking Shape
And if we win C-USA we get to play in the Hawaii Bowl against another wannabe ![]() SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four
2014-15 & 2016-17 AAC Men's Basketball Champs
Re: The Nightmare Scenario Taking Shape
Tell that to our track or baseball team. The reality is that football and men's basketball are the only sports that have any chance of making money, and therefore the other sports largely depend on them for funding. Being in a conference with higher revenue from TV and bowl games would make it easier for us to maintain our non-revenue sports.
Re: The Nightmare Scenario Taking ShapeSMU needs to focus money and resources into bringing in scouting talent. Guys with proven track records of finding and spotting recruits that can play but maybe aren't flashy in ways that get the star ratings. Sometime coaches aren't the best people to do this. We need that fat kid from Moneyball.
Re: The Nightmare Scenario Taking Shape
OMG, you have to be freaking kidding. WE"RE GETTING THE BIG RECRUITS NOW. so, yeah. let's go back to bottom feeding. that worked well. Utah, We've been doing this since you were jerking off to the lingerie section of the sears catalog. Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally
