Is college station that bad? Is it worst than Lubbock?

When I was in Austin, there were always people road tripping from Waco and College Station on weekends. Unlike Lubbock, both of them are not that far from Austin. Many of the visitors crashed with HS friends attending UT.

If I Manziel has a lot of friends at UT, I don't see why visiting them during the Summer would be a big deal. One of his friends probably suggested hanging out at the [name] house. They probably threw him out of the party for "fun."

Yes, and very few of them were starting QBs, much less national figures.

I don't think that's the point. He did something to get kicked out, obviously.

Totally and completely different scenarios. Romo was a professional and was vacationing in the middle of his season before a huge playoff game. Manziel is partying with friends on a weekend a MONTH before the season starts.

Whether you think how he acts is ok or not, he is a freshman who won the Heisman Trophy. Everything he does will be reported, scrutinized and debated. He is held to a higher standard whether he likes it or not. I enjoy watching him play because he makes playes most players only wish they could make. But I am concerned as well about the developing pattern of behavior. Yes he is a 19 year old college kid but I would think his dad or coach would have gotten hold of him and told him to cool it. Maybe they have and he ignored then, who knows.

No it's not. It's the same thing. Is one a professional and one a student? Sure. Does JF want to go pro? Then act like one.

He's gonna fail this year because he failed to act like a professional student-athlete.

Let's compare:

Do you think GGilbert was toking the pipe this summer and fartin' around?

What about the Mich QB that ALSO went to the Manning Camp? http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/index.s ... _earn.html

David Ash (UT)?

Tell you what, name a top 25 QB that was a pot-smoking, party [deleted] qb that was "Just being a student" that will continue to start Game 1...

PS: If he did smoke dope in that pic, he's suspended. Very smart. Now, did he violate his probation??

I went there for two years. Lots of women in the 5 - 7 range, which when I am looking for a short term thing, is what I go for, therefore, I did have some fun there.

In my fraternity, we threw people out all the time. Sometimes they deserved it - sometimes they didn't.

Given his notoriety, they may have thrown him out just to bust his balls.

Matt leinart used to be the king of LA as a qb at usc and he still won a heisman and had a successful college career, He even dated paris hilton for a while.

Every coach would rather have lilly white Tebow as their qb, but id prefer Manziel to Marcus Vick, terrell pryor, or any other qb that got himself into serious trouble (i.e.: guns, selling autographs for tattoos, etc)

Yes, but you also didn't have the opportunities that Manziel has. He needs to focus on football and his studies. Once his career flames out he can do whatever he wants.

Lighten up Francis.

It was a weekend party during summer break.

My point is that he needs to exercise better judgement because he has a national spotlight on him. He has to take the bad with the good because he definitely enjoys being a celebrity when it means going court-side to sporting events and mingling with other celebrities. If he really wants to avoid all the "BS" as he calls it then he should focus on football and staying eligible. He will have plenty of time to party later on.

Peyton Manning mooned a female student trainer at Tennessee...she later filed a lawsuit. Eli Manning got hammered all the time at Ole Miss. Leinart is another obvious one. Who cares? Did all of you Puritans roast them over the coals as well? They're college students. As long as, like I said, they're not hitting women or driving drunk or doing something serious, and it's not affecting their on field performance, then what's the big deal?

I blame all of this more on ESPN morphing into TMZ in recent years than Manziel's behavior. The headline on the sidebar of SportsCenter this morning was "Manziel's Wild Weekend." Really? He got kicked out of a fraternity party at a rival college. Is that really "wild?"
