Absolutely not. Hey, try this: next time the band plays Peruna or the fight song, clap to it, sing the words to the fight song. Stand and cheer them when they march on the field. These kids are volunteers who do this because they want to and really we need to support what is ours....thank you to all of our band members!
OK, great. So we should all sit down, shut up, and pretend to love Over the Rainbow being played at our games because it's mean to "put down" the band. Got it.

You are entitled to your opinion, which I do not share. The Mustang Band has earned the privilege to conduct itself as it pleases, having paid the price and sacrificed quite a lot for SMU over the years. These kids work hard, so don't blame them. Go talk with the director, I am sure he will listen. Without the Mustang Band, you would have a huge whole in school spirit. So be careful for what you wish for. I am more concerned with the total absence of any living spirit on the SMU side instead of the student side. I tried my best to rally a few people to cheer for SMU when we needed it, and they just sat there with their complacent looks. Believe me, I've been to a lot of games home and away, and our home side fans need to get off their butts and make some noise. It's college football not an evening cocktail party in the Bubble. When the band is playing blue hair lullabies, one more reason for people to get up, and once that happens it's all over.
Are we gonna ignore the rest of the show? Blurred lines a popular pop song (department of redundancy department I know), Sway is a great jazz tune that plays to the band arrangement, and then a classic that no one likes apparently. People have been leaving for half time no matter what the band plays so to say this show was even a remote reason for fan apathy and douchery then I invite you to leave as well.

Nope. Trust me that the Diamond M was the largest in recent memory. That alone proves the size. They were squashed in today because of the crowd in my opinion.
Well, I believe you but the band looked tiny...like maybe 50 people. Everyone I was sitting with was worried scholarship money had dried up or something...if it's a seating arrangement thing, that might need to be re-thought.

In the past the band used to spread out from top to bottom through that section, but maybe because of the sellout, they were asked to 'squish' down to the bottom half in order to free up seats. I always thought they looked too spread out, but apparently everyone here thinks that meant the band looked bigger (and swears they must be smaller now).

Our RAINBOW warrior head coach will be angry if a song about a rainbow was played.

That's what happened. The band was asked to take up less room so the students could have a bigger section. And if anyone doesn't like the musical selection, email the band director instead of [deleted] about it on this site

If fans leave at halftime because they don't like the song the band played or because they can't get cell service, then they are crap fans. I'd like our halftimes to be more entertaining, too, and I'd like my cell to work better in the stands, but ultimately I am there to see a football game. Seriously, we will [deleted] about any little nitpicky thing. It's unbelievable. There are things I don't like about the band either, but they are OUR band. They work their talls off, they put in more time supporting our team than we do, and they are louder than the majority of blue haired old farts on the alumni sideline. If you don't notice this, then pull your head out of your arse. And like others have said, contact the band leadership to air your grievances and quit clammering on about it here where no one can do a thing about it.

You cannot count. Ten years ago the Mustang Band marched 62..that's right 62. Today they march 92.
Have you noticed that the people who complain about "every year ________ gets worse" have always been around less than 5 years? Kids love to pretend they know about the bad times, when they've never seen a 62 member band and a winless season, or playing games off campus in front of crowds less than 15K.

Whatever they played at timeouts, it was better than the Pinterest breaks and the tweet your favorite women's golfer contests.

Seems like y'all like to argue about anything. The band was fine and I enjoyed it.

There is plenty of stuff to deleted about on this site that actually has to do with the on field performance of the football team. No one has to dig so deep in the well to pull out a band complaint, you have plenty of material with June.
