My genuine belief was that if A&M beat 'bama then we would have an outside shot at this one - see Michigan a play away from losing to Kent State. Team wins the biggest game of their regular season, glows in the success of it the week after, and then a much less talented team with a laser-like focus comes in and gives them their best shot. Pretty common, actually, and since Notre Dame didn't perform that well against Purdue, who is not very good themselves, then it's not off the table.

But A&M literally has more talent at every position and has every reason to be angry and still hopefull at the same time. Kyle can be vicious. That is not a good combo. I just bet a guy a six pack on the game and have already picked him up what he drinks.

Go Ponies. Make me proud.

Ahhhh, no.

Not to pe pedantic, but the years before June were the drought. We actually have a little bit of rain going on now - it's everybody wanting and expecting a monsoon right this now that seems unrealistic.

At least we have a theme song this year. Miley Cyrus' wrecking ball. Not sure if we're the ball, the wall. Do you think instead of the dudes in Cowboy gear they could put naked chicks on the geldings? Now that would increase attendance.

I thought the foreign viral song to be played on the PA was The Fox by Ylvis. Last year it was Gangnam Style.

Lloyd Christmas had a better shot with Mary Swanson than we do at beating aTm in college station, let alone anywhere else. Sumlin could let his players make the aTm sideline look like a maroon version of The Boulevard and Johnny Football Locker would throw 4 TD passes in the first half on us just as something to kill time while he awaits his turn in beer pong. Those who think that aTm is going to do anything less than make us look like a BAD high school football team is in for a disappoint. Those who think we can beat the spread, don't bet as much as a penny on it, and those who legitimately think we can win this game are setting themselves up for ridicule of epic proportions. We have no business putting A&M on our schedule (suuuuure, SMU! We'd LOVE to play you guys anytime!)

Why? Why is this football program such a glutton for punishment? Do we enjoy getting humiliated? Do they not care about not getting laughed at?

TCU, yes, every year. Beating TCU - enough said. THAT should be considered a signature win for us. Tech (post mike leach), fine if our other two non-conf games are D1AA schools and we are primed to win the latest middling conference we drifted into at the time. But aTm along with the froggies, the sand aggies, and a D1AA/FCS team that could beat at least 1/3 of all D1A/FBS teams? Last I checked, setting ourselves up for looking like a laughingstock is a complete 180 from the mindset of anyone who buys into what SMU as an institution is all about. It saddens me to no end that the football team continues to be exempt an idea that permeates throughout everything SMU touches - setting people up for success.

I feel so bad for our players given that they have been left hung out to dry with this buzz saw of a schedule.

Good luck to our guys, always.

Don't worry Dorfmam, the AAC is turning out to be so bad we could make a bowl game almost blindfolded.

Pretend SMU to BCS fans-really get on my nerves. Grow a pair. Go cheer on some Division III team if you don't want SMU competing at the highest level. You don't think most SMU teams haven't faced a game like this. We used to play all these teams 8 weeks in a row. I got news for you the 2013 schedule ain't that hard a schedule-Sagarin has it ranked as the no. 72 schedule in the country. We don't even play the only nationally competitive program in our conference. Quit whining about the schedule and focus on how to improve the program so we can reach our goals. .. The goal at the time this game was scheduled was Top 25 in everything we do. You don't get to schedule games a couple of months before the season and then drop the toughest opponents. Good Lord what kind of bitchin' would we have to endure if we ever did reach our goal of making a BCS conference

I think the idea is you field a competitive team, then play the big boys. Getting annihilated by any decent team is no fun. I'm not saying stomping cupcakes is fun either, but why don't we have a team worthy of taking the field against the b12 before we get too worried about who we are scheduling. Lack of talent is the problem here, not scheduling issues.
