So JJ is golden with the admin. Someone else pays his large salary and the AD is costing him less money annually. The CoC likes him or he would never have received the extension.

MY PREDICTION:

He will keep the extension he has in his pocket until at least signing day. This way he can keep pressure on the admin for whatever committment he is looking for. Nothing will be said this week one way or another.

I'm sorry but feelthehorsepower has already assured us that we have already come to terms with another coach.

That's right 8)

How long do we have to wait?

I will be amazed if June is still our coach by the end of the year. All the signs point to a parting of ways. He sold his house at around the same time as we now hear he was offered an extension. News of the offered extension was not made public until GG went down and our chances of a successful season when down the can. This is about making JJ seem wanted as he is shopped around to other programs.

Just my guess.

It looks very much like the Mack Brown era at Texas will end in 2013.

Sources intimate the target list includes Alabama coach Nick Saban, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh and Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher. And don’t rule out Les Miles and Art Briles.

We’re told not to be fooled by leaked contract extensions and that the Longhorns are willing to wait until after late bowl games to get the right guy. Money will be no object.

If there’s a big buyout, Texas will pay it.

For a coaching change year that looked slow (only nine jobs open so far), the Texas job could make things very interesting. The Longhorns will hire a head coach. And that could create a ton of other movement. Alabama, FSU and LSU are great jobs. It’s going to be a very long and interesting month.

Same thing with SMU. Do not be fooled by the "contract extension" leaks
