According to SMU86 it was not during dead period. Can someone confirm this?
I think both 86 and Stallion referenced an earlier article on Scout that indicated the visit was not during the dead period. I was not aware of that other article at the time, so I apologize for perpetuating a myth.

Temple definitely wasn't during a dead period.

There has been some talk in the past that Scout had been temporarily banned from practice. I wonder whether E.J. has become oppositional with the coaching staff because he's gotten crossways with June over some perceived slight (e.g. being banned from practice), or if it's as simple as bashing SMU is a career builder (a la Dale Hansen). I don't know him personally. But in either case, it effects his objectivity. Maybe PonyPride will be willing to follow-up and get SMU's side of the story. If this is true, it won't be the first time we have handled recruits poorly. But usually, there's more to it.

Why anyone is even surprised is beyond me.
After we extended JJ- smu showed its true colors. No appetite for football success. Who cares anymore.
I told Hart that he turned me from a die hard fan into one of the apathetic masses. Job well done.

We all know that casper no-nuts doesn't have permission or authority to do anything other than call 'daddy rgt' to ask what should be done. A winning attitude starts at the top and 'we ain't got it'.

Temple definitely wasn't during a dead period.
Maybe JJ and his staff confused the Temple game weekend as a "High Holy" weekend, and as such, couldn't recruit or use machinery/electronic devices. Shalom My Unbelievers.

That was Josh not EJ. He and his staff have been allowed to all practices and they had practice reports all season from every practice. I confirmed all this with EJ.

That should give you pause. Well, that is if you haven't already long ago made up your mind that JJ kills children for fun.

Does anyone know when it was? Actual date I mean. And the manner in which his visit was made public? Or were the coaches expected to feel a disturbance in the force?

It's called giving someone a fair shake. Or in other circles, getting your facts straight before making damning accusations. This method does tend to slow down the merry lynching now and again though.
