News also had the 'Why Strong isn't a hip-hop coach' headline blow up, so they aren't really clean here, either. If you're gonna quote an old white guy like Holz, use quotes.

And there is nothing wrong with a hip hop coach either. Not sure who would be a hip hop coach and why that would be negative.

I wonder what the King of Torts thinks about the hire. I think 98% of Texas fans want to flush the Red McCombs and Joe Jamails down the drain. Apparently, they were completely shut out of the process and the new AD is emerging as the Hero OBJECTION FORM* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIxmrvbMeKc* My Texas litigation protégés should get a kick out of the title of the link

Heard the "If we hired Gruden, he'd win at least 5 national championships" line on the radio this morning and nearly fell out of the car.

Texas better get their house in order.
Too many birds chirping. Stinks of favoritism and even maybe a bit of racism...??

I'm open to the idea that McCombs didn't want a guy who won at Louisville over a Super Bowl winner had more to it than just race, but the guy who started a company as succesful as his and who has been around as long as he has HAS to know better. That being said, McCombs is an a$$hat.
The other issue here besides potential racism is the simple fact that boosters have WAY to much influence in this stupid game. Auburn's got a problem, UConn has a problem, God knows we've had a problem, and evidently UT has a problem. The athletic director, whose job includes HIRING THE COACH has a chance to get the right guy and a booster cries because he doesn't get to nod his head in front of the school president.
Same thing I said before: It's not enough just to get the right guy, we've got to get political.

I don't know if it's racial or not.
I think a more likely explanation is that a lot of the old ^$%#* money folks at the UT figure they ain't going to have the access to "coach" like they did with Mack. Heck, Mack had one of them as his personal lawyer!
These ^$%H* money folks were left out of the selection process. Now they will be left out of the access as well.
Even though they have BIG money, they have FRAGILE egos.
UT is a political job no doubt, but so are most other programs. Can't just be a coach, got to be a glad-hander, too.

I also think for these big $ guys, it is about access. Access to program and access to coach. Perhaps they don't want to play 18 with Mr. Strong the same way they wanted to play 18 with Mack??

I can't believe he said that Coach Strong would make a good position coach and maybe a coordinator. What does he even know about Coach Strong? Pitiful. Puts Coach Strong in a difficult situation Their booster publicly berates their coach in the media and our coach publicly down talks our school in the media.
