Right, and if it is a moot point why air it publicly for recruits and their parents to read. No point in it except to develop an excuse.
Exactly. I agree with you, you are not supposed to air those issues publicly. What I mean moot point is that our chances to get larger revenues from TV/Conference are getting smaller by the day, therefore those upgrades might never come...unless we pay for them ourselves through some sort of alumni fund..

Dude, where do you think the current upgrades have come from, Santa Claus? About our only saving grace at the moment with this P5 crap lies in the fact that we have alumni who with appropriate motivation have the resources to move mountains. Problem is, JJ's approach isn't exactly going to get them fired up to break out the checkbook because it all sounds like whiny [deleted] excuses for why he can't get the job done (a job that was initially paid for, for those of you new to our game, by alumni).

I just hear him saying we do not have the huge dollars that the big boys have to build the palaces that they build. We have posts with pictures on this site of some of the big guys who have recently remodeled and there is no way we could compete with that. When you get $15,000,000 for a bowl game and $16,000,000 from conference proceeds like the SEC, then you can do much more from a facility standpoint. I just cannot disagree with the opinion he gives on the facilities.
You're not going to be winning "Most Popular Senior Boy" with posts like this.
That kind of sense makes it hard to get a good lynch mob together.

Haven't we redone the weight room while JJ has been our coach?

No amount of facilities improvements will ever be good enough for June. He's got a strong contingent of morons who will believe anything he says and he's going to make sure that none of the blame for our problems falls on him.

I did and I'd love an explanation on why June hasn't developed "attachments" with these recruits that we keep losing. Perhaps there are problems with the composition of his staff and his approach to recruiting. Kind of hard to take any of his whining seriously when he doesn't even accept some of the blame.

My season ticket's opinion wants top competition, regional/national interest, TV ratings, fans, community interest and Ford full of enthusiastic fans. I have no interest in beating Div II teams and teams with whom no one has any interest thereby leaving Ford empty and the tailgating venue the only place to be. If you cannot hire a football HC who can recruit and make the program competitive then give up football at the Div. I level. Quit making excuses for a failing football staff who has now had 7 recruiting classes and are regressing because they cannot recruit. When you are paid big bucks and cannot produce it is time to cut the losses and get some one who will produce. Enough of the rationalizations and excuses. JJ has had 6 years to make this program competitive knowing the schedule and we are simply NOT competitive with top 50 teams. Losers make excuses and blame others; winners find a way.

Ok let's put it this way, no one is 100% right on this one. June isn't doing the job he is being paid for and it's true that we can't compete with the cows and aggies in facilities at this moment. June is getting $2M a year. He is probably the highest paid coach in the AAC and possibly all of G5. Honestly, if he doesn't get the job done, I say we hire Boise's coach or UNT's coach or someone that will take those $2 M and make [Deleted] happen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Boise's coach? You mean Chris Peterson? You mean the one that got hired by Washington this year? Yeah, let's do that. Solid call.

Not Chris Petersen. Bryan Harsin. He's getting paid $1M in Boise and he's young. He is familiar with how Petersen coaches and had a 7-5 record his first year with Arky State.

Reality Check:
For the 2014 recruiting class, Rivals ranked SMU #99. Out of 123. The bottom quantile, statistically speaking. Let that sink in for a minute.
It is hard to recruit successfully against lavishly funded SEC schools and national programs such as UT, Ohio State, Michigan, and USC. But here are some of the schools that out recruited June, per Rivals:
Tulsa Houston Middle Tennessee Tulane LA Tech Florida International Arkansas State Florida Atlantic Southern Miss Memphis Toledo Rice Texas State Ball State
Some of these schools probably have indoor practice facilities; some bigger meeting rooms; some may even have nicer stadiums (though I doubt it). But these aren't even the Iowa States, Wake Forests, and Purdues of FBS. These are schools that SMU should out recruit every year.
In what sane universe is there justification for SMU being out recruited by Arkansas State, Texas State, Ball State, and some Florida schools that people can't tell apart all in the same year?
