I do not subscribe to the money sites but last week they made a Dallas blitz to 100 schools. I have seen one offer that has been made since that time. The QB from DeSoto I believe it was. If that is all we offer out of 100 schools I am not impressed with this "lip service". Seems to me they are just tweeting up a show and not really doing anything. Should there not be several new offers being extended?

Saw on Twitter we offered a JUCO DT from Tyler that TCU and UNT have also offered.

I have no idea if offers are being extended or not, but we might just not have heard about them.

I agree. That is why I mentioned I do not subscribe to the other sites. But usually offers are made public by either us or the athlete. Just seems odd if they are out in such force.

That is usually the case but sometimes it is better to keep offers and commitments under wraps. Wouldn't be suprised if we had several kids committed to SMU on the down low..

Ha

Yeah. Sure thang bruh. Its always a good idea to keep positive recruiting buzz under wraps so other star recruits think you're going to remain mediocre at best. Great idea.

I can't even begin to fathom the thought process in FTHP's mind that culminated in that post.

To my knowledge an understanding, separate of any current roster players that leave for one reason or another ... I'm of the impression we only have about 5-6 scholies for 2015. That info came from within the football offices ... so I'm not sure how many offers you extend w/o having issues, credibility or otherwise.

Other note, and I have not seen this on any site (this or the pay sites) ... SMU offered a 2015 LB in West Texas back in Jan, who is a stud. First team All-State, district MVP as a defensive player, and he was at SMU's last practice. I know he currently holds an offer from Duke (there are others, but I'm not sure who they are) ... UH, Tech, OU, Oregon, Okie State, TCU, San Diego State, and Baylor are showing a lot of interest, and he has been to visit some of them as well. I guess my point is, we may not know all the offers for whatever reason.

That makes a lot of sense. Seniors(or final year people) this year should be Pope, Barnes, Bordano, Nelson, Nwabuike, Sanders (unless he is not healthy and redshirts) Thompson, Wright. We have 3-4 gray shirts in January, so unless a lot of players leave we have very few scholarships. I'm sure that will change a little, but that's not a lot people leaving.

Since we allegedly only have 5 or 6 scholarships it seems that all of that that greyshirting and over signing may have caught up to us with the new NCAA rules that passed last year. We might run off or release a few players to make room for others. As far as offers go SMU offers some players with good scholarship offers every year but the issue is following up with them and recruiting them hard as opposed to just offering a high caliber athlete just to say you offered. Results are all that count.

how many years do we have to go through this "SMU doesn't have many scholarships to give" [deleted] before some of you learn how a college football program works?

Exactly. people are encouraged to graduate early, or their career ends because of injury or whatever. Maybe rewarding the 3 walkons with scholarships this spring is a little heads up that players who work hard will be rewarded, and players who don't will be cut? Maybe, MAYBE we limit a class to 20 scholarships, but odds are we will have a full set of offers go out.
