meanwhile....back on topic, I agree it would be nice to win a national championship in basketball, soccer or any of the country club sports where SMU might have a realistic shot at competing. Football appears to be a pipe dream and I think that ship has sailed. Might as well get on with the 4x16 that will create what effectively becomes an 8 team playoff for the national championship.

I suppose we could hope for a 4x18 configuration which might give SMU an option to participate, but realistically SMU appears to belong at that "next level", whatever it is ultimately going to look like. Otherwise, we will always be counting on the "circle of champions" to fund our participation and I'm just not convinced that approach is viable long term

Anyways, back on topic now that Big12Mustang is through with his hissy fit, I see us winning in hoops first but golf now has a shot to win now that they advanced to the championship so maybe theyll bring home the hardware? :idea:
