Haven't won anything? Right....

What do they call the planet you live on? It sounds like an ingesting, although backwards, place.

Kreig- he is not representative of the SMU fanbase. He's a TCU troll

Yeah I know. It's amazing the inferiority complex those guys have for us. The best example is their coach's rant after we beat them last year. He's just as nuts as B12.[/quote]

You barely beat TCU. They beat you the entire game. Were it not for last minute pick you would have lost

If you are a TCU fan I can see why you want SMU to keep Jones.

I'm not a TCU fan. It's a win win for SMU right now-If June sucks we fire him and get a better coach. If he is good and win 10 games then awesome as well

Lots of dimwits on this board were vehemently against any consideration of Coker for the SMU position years ago. I was one of the few who thought Coker would be preferable to Jones.

IIRC, some folks were against him due to his age while others thought he rode Butch Jones' coattails at Miami.

Yeah, there's a reason he didn't get an FBS job for five years after leaving Miami. His teams got progressively worse in each of his six seasons there.

When your first season is a national title and your second season ends in a loss in the title game, it is pretty tough to stay at that level!

Agreed, but tell me this wasn't a troublesome trajectory:

2001: undefeated national champs with all of Butch Davis' players
2002: 12-1 runner up with most of Butch Davis' players
2003: 11-2, won Orange Bowl, finished #5
2004: 9-3, won Peach Bowl, finished #11
2005:9-3- got routed in Peach Bowl, finished #18
2006: 7-6, barely beat Nevada in "MPC Computers Bowl," finished unranked, Coker fired

Coker is a very good coach and knows recruiting. That is why he is having success. He knows the blueprint and how to read it.

While the record wasn't as good, similar kind of trajectory with JJ while Bennett's players finished their eligibility.

What exactly did Bennett build?

He had offers but had health issues to work out, but lets not let facts get in the way.

Post was not to advocate hiring Coker or firing June, just to point out how much Coker and UTSA have done in short period of time without making excuses. Sick of getting calls for money for IPF and other things we still need, when they have done more without even on campus facilities. They go on the road with QB whose never taken a snap in college and spank Houston in their new building, and all we got last year after Houston spanked us was "well our QB was inexperienced" or we "weren't really prepared for their speed." There is no reason we can't be better if we get our act together.

Coker is engaged throughout the community at Rotary and Kiwanis clubs, charity events, high schools, etc. and usually always in UTSA gear talking up UTSA. He is loved by the power high schools here like Judson, Smithson Valley, Madison, etc. June may do that stuff up there and we just don't here about it, but if he's not doing it really don't understand why he wouldn't.

In terms of recruiting, it pains me to say but they already are on some recruits we look at also and don't forget Gresham was going to UTSA until late when family got involved and his chance to play at home for us after we got on him late worked out. My concern is their trajectory is going up and up and ours stays the same or is declining.

I want SMU to be successful as much as anyone, and my time, money and effort all these years speaks to that. I want June or whoever or coach is to be successful. But if you're objective I just don't think you can make argument Coker hasn't done a very good job in realtively same time period as June, and done so with less. More importantly, no excuses. Not even scheduling, Coker welcomed playing OSU, Arizona, etc. as a chance to build his program.

Coker works his butt off to get kids he thinks will do good things for them and engages their fanbase at every opportunity.

June sits on his [deleted] and waits for kids with no options to send him tapes and can't be bothered to even show his face until he screws up by saying dumb [deleted] like moving G5 games to the spring.
