Re: Is There Any Reason To Not Fire JJ Today?Actually our recruiting, albeit horrible - is no worse than NTSU. That makes this even worse.
Re: Is There Any Reason To Not Fire JJ Today?Player development and on-field coaching is a lot worse though.

Re: Is There Any Reason To Not Fire JJ Today? The positives of canning June Joke immediately far outweigh the negatives IMO.
Geaux MUSTANGS! Geaux Tigers!
Re: Is There Any Reason To Not Fire JJ Today?Hell, if we cannot find an acceptable replacement with experience at college level this week, I would take a hot young Texas high school coach! Would probably see a pop in recruiting, and would be relatively cheap. But fielding any kind of staff might be a problem with this scenario.
Beat the hell out of anybody!
Re: Is There Any Reason To Not Fire JJ Today?I suffered through Baylor and today in person. Season ticket holder in football and basketball since graduating in 2002. Only person in my alum peer group who sat through both of these. I'm officially done if June isn't gone tonight. Everyone tweet Hart, June etc.
Re: Is There Any Reason To Not Fire JJ Today?... And I am on board with the ArKy guys opinion on Houston Nutt. Maybe not a top choice, but if he is immediately available he would hit the ground running.
Beat the hell out of anybody!
Re: Is There Any Reason To Not Fire JJ Today? Not really certain what the contract states or what we owe him but we need to ask him to step aside and put in an interim coach for the rest of the season; even if we need to pay him out the rest of the year. We just need someone to come in and get the players we have excited to play again. And then the next coach needs to be a top notch recruiter.
Re: Is There Any Reason To Not Fire JJ Today?Fire him and refuse to pay him He sues, SMU eventually loses the suit and we trash his reputation while he waits four years for his money.
Re: Is There Any Reason To Not Fire JJ Today?
I like this approach.
Re: Is There Any Reason To Not Fire JJ Today?Okay, I was at the game...This may sound crazy, but our players are honestly not bad. The coaching scheme used today was absolutely terrible. Aside, from how livid we all are, from a football team standpoint this coaching change this week makes all the sense in the world. We have a bye week, giving the interim coach (Mason) the opportunity to at least change the mentality of the team. This apathetic BS that we roll out on the field every week has made our players the most tentative I've ever seen in my life. I've never seen more absurdly terrible decisions on fielding kicks/punts in my life. How many drives do we have to start inside the freaking 10 yardine?!? These players are way too talented and work too hard to not at least be put in a position to win.
I like sports and I don't care who knows.
Re: Is There Any Reason To Not Fire JJ Today? In good conscience I can't see how JJ could accept $2M this year with the direction the program is going?
But then again - I'm sure he feels entitled like the other 50%+ of the country. So there ya go. BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
Re: Is There Any Reason To Not Fire JJ Today?Probably not financially feasible to hire a new head coach now, but it will cost next to nothing to elevate a current Assistant to interim. We all know this season is not salvageable anyway, so we have nothing to loose. Can take our time to find the right head coach.

Didn't Mark Cuban try that with Don Nelson? They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: Is There Any Reason To Not Fire JJ Today?Let rick hart coach. Who cares. This season is a lost cause. Gonna take a few years to even be decent now.
