Somewhat of the same thing I was thinking. We'll see if anyone else follows him to take some potshots. But it could just be that Eric is hurt because he helped get his friend June the job and now things have come apart and he is simply expressing this. Maybe this was just a one time thing to get it out of his system.

Every game. On the Boulevard. Before June was a twinkle in SMU's eye. And there are others by the way. If ED and Craig James (and their buddies) personally feel unwelcome, it is because they say this [deleted] about SMU in national forums -- making it all that much harder for SMU to succeed. SMU had (already) built a stadium, removed recruiting restrictions, admitted jucos and qualifiers (when June has recruited any), agreed to pay June $2M a year, redid the locker room, changed the stadium lights, got into the AAC, added new mascots, played an OOC schedule that a program "taking it seriously" should play (which he did not want to do). If this whining is all about a GD indoor practice facility, that is ridiculous.

If that is true then, them there is one guy to blame, June Jones. But y'all know that.

Not sure I disagree with this comment. The "P5" landscape will be ever changing as a response to demographic shifts, change in university resources, sport popularity, etc. That said, SMU will really need to think about its commitment over the next 10 years if SMU wants to see P5 in the lifetime of about half of SMU's living fan base today.

Actually I was told that June had an indoor practice facility approved but June did not like the location of it. And I believe Hart said that it would be built in 2015.

I wonder if ED realizes how totally out of touch he sounds with this kind of crap.
Talk about losing any credibilty he had left.

I think he was just defending hid friend. Could be that this was just a one time vent.

Who's the damn coach if we can't beat a high school team? Who is now playing with his OWN PLAYERS?? I just don't get it. Everyone wants to blame SMU. I KNEW this was going to happen. All these former players bashing the program and protecting JJ - Tank Reed, etc. Crazy. Again, I KNEW this was going to happen. I guess it is WE who are out of touch.

Luckily, only a handful of people listen to that radio station so it won't exactly be water cooler talk.

JJ was his friend. Sorry, ED is ticked, but hopefully with a good hire, he'll come back to the fold. JJ had more freedom than any football coach in recruiting since ED played and he still didn't recruit well.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

I think there are two sides to every story.
Sure, Jones did us wrong with the ASU thing. Something changed after that whole incident. Kind of like when you decide you want to leave your company, but can't find a job anywhere else. You go through the motions, but your heart really isn't in it.
The questions are why did he want out so bad? We need a little more transparency into SMU. We know it isn't an academic thing. What is it? Recruiting budget? No funding for a training table?
We also know that there were a lot of issues with assistant coaches not getting paid enough. What was June promised when he came in? Did we have to slide money from the salaries of assistants that left (McKnight, Reinbold, etc) to cover raises for the ones who stayed (Mason, Odum), and then we only had budget to bring in super cheap coaches? Is that really the reason June brought his "cronies" in - they were the only ones we could afford to pay?
I have no idea, but the only way we are going to fix all of this and get a solid program is understand what all of the investments need to be, determine a dollar amount, and raise the appropriate money.
I've said it elsewhere, but we need to be transparent. Have Hart bring a budget to the Mustang Club. Let's understand how much we need to raise and why. Transparency will go a long way towards building credibility.

If SMU is such a crap place, then why did ED encourage his friend, JJ, to come here in the first place?
This is sour grapes on ED's part. Wish he had diplomatic skills to say nice things about JJ and his school, but whatever.
New coach. Winning. Cures a lot of pain.
