This sentence sure seems to assume that JJ was filling peoples heads with stuff. We don't know that.

I said could have been, not was. Even you said the thought crossed your mind.

Here is the entire post not just the snippet that you posted.

I agree. And we don't know what all June was telling him about the current situation at SMU. He could have been filling ED's head full of the same stuff that the staff was filling Mexmustang's and JasonB's head with.

And here is your post saying you understood my point.

ponyboy wrote:Ok, but if upper leadership is recalcitrant and/or nonsupportive, there's not a lot a head coach *can* do. I do understand Rebel's point, though. That possibility did occur to me that JJ's been giving only his side of the story.

I guess he's trying to make sure fball doesn't go backwards. But, again, we (the admin) SHOULD have gotten to him and been PROACTIVE. He should ALWAYS be included, and consulted, with major fball decisions IMHO.

He should always be consulted with major football decisions????? Absolutely not.

Now reward him and kiss his butt for acting like a jerk and throwing the school under the bus with his misinformation campaign, at the very moment he could do the MOST GOOD by getting 100% behind the program.

The most he deserves are open arms from the program and a sideline pass, IF he quits his incessant whining.

The players have now seen his nonsense and are calling him an idiot.

Rebel, here's where I'm not making myself clear. I don't have enough information to make a decision. It *may* be that JJ slanted ED's info. Or it may *not* be. Any of you who have made a judgement on this need to share your data. But we've got the greatest player in SMU history -- and pretty damned near 100% of JJ's players -- siding with JJ. I'm not prepared to just throw that out and continue the hate parade. More importantly, if this is still broken we need to fix it while there's still a chance.

I think you understood what I was saying. None of my statements said that it did happen just the it could have. Almost seems like you are judging me saying that I said that it did happen. Look just about everyone is jumping on ED but we don't know what he had been feed by JJ. Certainly former players that he has helped are going to side with him. After all he gave most of them an opportunity and a scholarship. They are not involved in going to high schools recruiting. Also, I thought you were a man of faith and here you are cursing? Come on ponyboy you are better than that imo. I am just not ready to throw ED under the bus because I believe he was just frustrated at the time.

Reb, I think I know you are saying. I am also not ready to slam Dickerson either.

Sick of this did we give June enough stuff or not. I'm sure he didn't get all he wanted and I too think it's a disgrace we don't yet have an IPF, but last time we played Houston in Houston in year 6 of his reign we got shut out and spanked. UTSA in year 4 instead just spanked Houston in Houston on their big opening stadium night and UTSA doesn't have hardly anything on campus built yet and were using high school fields until just recently to practice.

And don't say bc of burcham, UTSA''s QB hadn't even taken a snap in college. Yes June could have had more support I'm sure, but he's got to accept some of the blame for how bad we have looked in year 7

June is gone. Although I do not approve ED's trashing of SMU, I think he did have some valid points, such as SMU needing to be fully committed to football excellence.

I do think, however, that the whole "SMU academic standards are too high" argument is moot, since LB has managed to sign everyone that has committed to SMU. (Obvious exception of Mudiay, but that's another topic). The admin needs to make clear that our admission standards are equal to other regional P5 schools. And by the way to someone that said we don't have athlete friendly majors, SMU does have a sports management degree or sports science over at Simmons.

academics are moot. I think the facilities crap is a bunch of BS.

My only point would be that if JJ was telling ED that there are issues outside of that space, then we really ought to know what those issues are so that they can be taken care of. I suspect assistant coach pay could be one of those issues. But that is absolute guess work on my behalf. All that I advocate is that instead of sticking our head in the sand and exclaiming June is a moron, let's at least give it a look, interview Eric, and see if anything real is there that we need to fix before we go and make offers in early December.

*Disclaimer* I have not had my head filled with information by June. I do not have a personal relationship with June. I have not had a fireside chat with June. I don't possess Junes phone number. I have not slept with June. I do wish that at some point I had a relationship with a Hawaii volleyball player. I don't have inappropriate relationships nor am I related to anyone in the SMU athletic department. I don't live in West Virginia, so I don't have inappropriate relationships with anyone I am related to either. I don't know Eric Dickerson, but I did see him in the bookstore once and said hi and he seemed like a nice guy.

Are you friends with any of the coaching staff? You keep driving this assistant pay thing but UNT does not pay their assistants anymore than SMU and they beat us badly. Also, June never said anything publicly about assistant pay. But June did voice his displeasure with not have an IPF built. Even the announcers last year at the UCF game said June was frustrated with not having an IPF. That could be it imo.

Yeah but you don't need a freakin IPF to get kids ready for gameday. Our facilities are top notch and enough to develop players and deliver a good football experience to fans. An IPF is nice to have for recruiting purposes and in case of bad weather. TT does not have an IPF and Kliff seems to be doing a fine job getting kids up to Lubbock.
