Re: You heard it here first...Or maybe they just ran it up the flag pole to see if anyone would salute...or shoot it down.
![]() SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Game on... start the clock. Announcement on Pearl Harbor Day.
Re: You heard it here first...Would this be a battle of our old school $ guys versus the new school $ guys?

Love the avatar. My Dad is in that pic.
Re: You heard it here first...Rusty Russell's team. Are there any new school $ guys? What is the cut-off?
Re: You heard it here first...per ESPN:
http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/travis- ... st?id=3762 • Everyone I’ve talked to regarding the Dallas Morning News' report that SMU “floated†an eight-year, $4 million-per deal in Mack Brown’s direction tell me it’s the school playing a leverage game. It wants the interested up-and-comers -- and there are several, Clemson OC Chad Morris and Ohio State OC Tom Herman among them -- to see there’s a financial commitment, a willingness to spend. And it also doesn’t hurt to have Brown’s name attached. My question is, wouldn’t eight years -- an unprecedented initial deal length, agents tell me -- be a turnoff to those “rising stars†in the coaching world? The buyout had better be pretty friendly. "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: You heard it here first...Again I think you are confusing what a buyout is. The contract amount-ex. 32 Million is what the school is legally obligated to pay. Its not a buyout which is usually a separately negotiated term defining what the Coach (or his new employer) will have to pay to get out of performing the remaining term of his contract. It usually goes down as the Coach fulfills more years on the contract. Freely negotiable

Re: You heard it here first...I think we can all agree that an eight-year contract to any head coach is extremely risky, and even more so where he is offered the position with the sole intent of turning the football program around.
Re: You heard it here first...given the JJ fiasco all I ask is that someone let me draw up the deal or at least give me a chance to review it...please.
Re: You heard it here first...I thought this was going to be a prediction that we beat Memphis tomorrow

Very cool. Was he a player? Didn't know your dad was a mustang. An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and
