Best quote for me was "We didn't necessarily want to see them back."

Herman sounds like a real party. Yeah I'd love to play for a coach like that. </sarcasm>

Yeah... who wants to play for a guy who was just OC for the national champs? As far as that goes, who would want to play for Urban Meyer who has a worse reputation for toughness?

Might want to get off our board and start working on upgrading those facilities.

This [deleted] is getting real. I may look into orders to Ft. Worth just so I can experience this for a few years before I go back to sea. Not the best for the career, but with my in-laws house within sight of Ford, it would be a great 2 years.

I didn't realize Houston had that many problems.

EJ almost copied the ESPN report word for word, including the mistake regarding where the football offices currently are (the offices are currently in the northwest corner of the stadium, not the northeast)

Urban Meyer is exactly the same way. When Meyer took over at Utah, he had the S&C essentially torture the players to see who would quit. From there, he built up his team.

Often, quotes and information that appear in stories like this have been provided by the school as part of a press release or a press briefing. Thus, it is not surprising that the quotes are virtually identical including mistakes.

The thing is, in this case EJ cites an ESPN report as the source of information for the upgrades.

And even the non-quoted portions look like he copied and pasted and just switched a few words around.

Compare this

In fact, Morris received encouragement from numerous head coaches around the nation, including Auburn’s Malzahn, Arizona State’s Todd Graham, Clemson’s Dabo Swinney and Texas A&M’s Kevin Sumlin.

“That’s the job, Chad,” Morris said, relaying fellow coaches’ thoughts. “That’s the one.”

Morris said peers, including mentor and friend Gus Malzahn, understood the promise of the program. In addition to Auburn's Malzahn, Arizona State's Todd Graham, Clemson's Dabo Swinney and Texas A&M's Kevin Sumlin were encouraging about the prospects at SMU.

Compare this

The project would include moving the football offices from the northeast to northwest corner of the stadium. An indoor practice structure would be built adjacent to that end of Ford Stadium. A party deck for boosters and fans, one with a view of the Dallas skyline, is also part of the plan.

What's in the northeast corner of the stadium? Just stands. Where would they move the coaches offices to? Didn't they just spend significant money renovating the current ones?
