Notice at the 15:19 point of the A&M clip the Aggie band is playing the Patton war march during an SMU offensive play (sounds like it goes on for 2 plays actually).

2 years later, on this very field, with the game still on the line, the Mustang band gets flagged for playing while A&M has possession in one of the most bizarre penalties I can ever recall.

Funny - I was thinking the same thing while I was watching it. I think the full Texas game from the same year? is on youtube also (the one that was mentioned in Pony Excess as the time we really/officially arrived as we curb stomped a Texas team that was a credible natty contender - until we curb stomped them :-) when we went to the option in the second half).

The full Texas game the following year is online (in parts) and was linked here a few months ago. However, I've not seen the full Texas game from 1982 (30-17 SMU win in Austin, called by the great Keith Jackson) online, just one clip of a long Dickerson run. If that were online I would love to see it.

Watching this game while watching the NFL draft. Making the draft so much more fun as it takes forever between picks... Thank you to whoever posted this!

My observations:

With the PonyUp tempo - do you think that the band might go back to the UpTempo Peruna like we hear in this '82 game? Perhaps a record can be reached...

and How was Wes Hopkins a WALK ON?????

Loved seeing WR/TE Don Jones for A&M in action - who eventually worked for SMU in admissions and got an EMBA from Cox.

That safety sure looked like an SMU TD...

They played a faster version of Peruna in the spring game, which I loved. Not as fast as this though.
