Re: Official: SMU vs. NTSU ThreadThe new blue helmets look nice. Can't wait to go to the game and watch us beat unt and shut them up finally.
Re: Official: SMU vs. NTSU Thread
If the twitter and facebook posts are any indication are we wearing the blue helmets with the American flag ponies? If so, I would imagine we wear red. But does anyone know?
Re: Official: SMU vs. NTSU ThreadWhy the American flag helmets now? Because of 9/11? Just curious.

Re: Official: SMU vs. NTSU Thread
Its rare to win a game when you turn the ball over 5 times. That game was surreal. Total Yards SMU - 274; NT - 353 Passing 266 -- 108 Rushing 8 -- 245 (SMU lost 28 yards in sacks) First Downs 17 -- 17 Penalties 7/60 -- 15/166 If you didn't know about the turnovers, or the dead man walking on SMUs sideline, it looks like it might have been a decent ball game. This year's offense looks so much sharper compared to last year. We have more weapons, more speed, more confidence, and a staff that cares, so I expect significantly different results. I want to see significant improvement on defense. I would expect some missed tackles against Baylor's athletes. I want to see a whole lot less of that against a CUSA team. Re: Official: SMU vs. NTSU ThreadGoing back to the Baylor game real quick.
I TIVO-ed it and watched some of the key plays (end of first half, first 3 drives of second half) very closely, especially with an eye on the line of scrimmage, and THE most encouraging thing was that we were NOT getting beat (on offense anyway) because we were getting manhandled by better talent (for the first 3 quarters). We just made some really dumb mistakes. Offsides by Chauncey which made a 3rd and short into 3rd and 7. Missed block by Gaines (just ran right passed the guy) that led to a tackle in the backfield and put us in a long situation. And even with all that it should have 28-28 with 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter at minimum (or, at worst 28-24) -> talking here about because how the first half ended. So, personally, I believe we could beat just about anybody left on our schedule (except maybe TCU), if we clean up those mental mistakes and give GREAT effort as HCCM said in his presser CONSISTENTLY. It will come down to that (and injuries of course). If we make far less mental mistakes (or just IMPROVE by conference time) and give GREAT effort consistently, we are definitely a bowl team (that offensive scheme is fun to watch). I think our defense will get a little better (can't seem to get any worse). But we have to play 4 quarters. As far as I could tell, our offense played 3 very good quarters (minus the mental mistakes) and our defense played 1.5 good quarters (the 2nd quarter and the first half of the 3rd). Give GREAT effort consistently for 4 quarters and cut down on the mental mistakes and we blow NTSU out (and at least 2-3 other teams we face) and be right there in most of the rest of them. Will we? I guess we'll find out soon enough.
Re: Official: SMU vs. NTSU ThreadI think we win but our defense has to play much better. I don't care that we went against the number four team giving up that many yards is inexcusable. A lot of that had to do with missed tackles and hopefully the coaches get that cleaned up this week.
Re: Official: SMU vs. NTSU ThreadWhy North Texas Will Win
SMU has plenty of room for growth on defense, and not just because it was gashed in the opener by Baylor. The Mean Green is ready to surround senior QB Andrew McNulty with more weapons than he had a year ago, namely backs Jeffrey Wilson and Antoinne Jimmerson, WR Carlos Henderson and TE Marcus Smith. Why SMU Will Win Yeah, the Mustangs were routed by Baylor, but Morris’ offense flashed life. Matt Davis looks like the right quarterback to operate the coach’s system, with his ability to scramble out of pressure and make throws on the move. It’s going to benefit SMU to have popped pads and been tested. Plus, North Texas was an awful road team in 2014. Player Who Matters Davis seems to love the size of 6-4 rookie WR Courtland Sutton, who caught two touchdown passes in the opener. But now he has to make better use of veteran Darius Joseph, who had a quiet start to the year. What’s Going To Happen? Neither defense has defensive stalwarts, so the offenses will get chance to move the sticks. This will be somewhat of a coming-out party for Davis, who’ll rush for 100 yards in a second straight game, while spurring Morris’ first win as a Mustang. North Texas vs. SMU Prediction Prediction: SMU 35, North Texas 27, Line: SMU -5, o/u: 58 http://collegefootballnews.com/2015/nor ... on-preview "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."

Re: Official: SMU vs. NTSU ThreadI am really looking forward to our stangs curb stomping the crap out of the ntsu sparrows tomorrow evening...run up the score, enjoy the drive back to the rathole they came from. Then on to TCU and upsetting the toads.
