Now see, that is a racist statement. Learn from your fellow Cougar Cargo.
Just using a term started by SMU fans which was still in use when I graduated in the early 90s.
Well its 2015 and not in use anymore. Get over it, times have changed. You're really gonna hold smu students accountable for something that happened the year they were born?

It was used in the 90s and it has since been blasted for its use for the past 20+ years. Guess who decided to use it now? You are a blatant racist and because of that would prefer you go back to your racist world and stay off of this board.

I went to school there five years and it wasn't a war zone. 1 1/2 minutes from many urban campuses isn't good. Chicago, Hopkins, Columbia, UH...

I regularly speak with recruits and their parents about the recruiting process and what things to look for (and to put it bluntly, things black families need to look out for) during the recruiting phase.
Im not from Texas but since I've been here I've heard a lot of things posted throughout the past week whether it be the crime around Houston or the perceived racism/classism from SMU. However, there are some things that you either have to experience in person to understand. Then on the flip side you have people that are more honest in their opinions online.
I've been to the Houston campus twice in the past few years and it didn't live up to the "danger" hype if you will. Ive also been to the SMU campus many more times and didn't get the racism vibes.
I say all of that to say that this week was the first time I read both team boards (this and coogfans fwiw) and I'm kind of stunned at what I've read here. I've personally vouched for SMU to many families and now I'm questioning myself and wondering if I've been making mistakes. I've read way too many coded insults and even a few blatantly racist posts over this past week on this board. There was one thread that pretty much only said "F the [deleted]" and not only was it left up for hours but not one person that posted afterwards seemed to have a problem with it.
I have taken more screenshots than I can count as proof. While I'm unsure as to whether I will officially contact the SMU athletic department about the poor reflection this website is making on the university I will absolutely speak with a couple of the coaches on your staff when I see them again. More importantly I want to thank some of you for opening my eyes and consequently the eyes of the recruits/parents that I show this to.
Oh yeah let's judge SMU by what Moron SWC whatever his name was posted bull shi....t lies about things he alleged coaches said. No one said anything to the "F the [deleted]" comment because you just don't feed trolls. But we get it. We have our fair share of Johnny Utah, Cougar King, FootballDad, Feel the horsepower, Blackoutpony and more in this board so it was business as usual when that swc moron posted
Haha, don't try to deflect, and blame us for your constant childish comments about war zones, 7-11, your vast wealth & mental superiority, blah, blah, blah.

UH is located in an awful part of Houston. Is this even up for debate?

Even without the shooting you shouldn't go to Cowboys games. #ThrowingShade

Yet we still recruit better than SMU.
I guess that justifies the crime rates then. Carry on.
