Add Georgia to the list with the HOPE Scholarship funded by lottery ticket sales. Andrew Young opposed a Lottery in Georgia as he feared people who could least afford gambling/lottery tickets would spend their limited disposal income in this manner. Georgia has already had to reduce from 100% in-state tuition to 90% as well as raise GPA requirements to keep HOPE solvent. There is also a continuous issue with some not being serious students and living the party lifestyle of a non-serious college kid and flunking out after having consumed their entitlement to "free" education. The LSU example in the previous post is spot on as the top baseball prospect at Westminster in Atlanta has committed to LSU (I am sure he is getting one of the NCAA allowed type and is not going on TOPS). Mississippi State was the first complain about the HOPE advantage for Georgia and Georgia Tech who simply stated...get your own lottery!

Is it possible for SMU to start our own lottery for the advancement of private school education? That may be a payroll that passes muster with the NCAA as it is allowed at many state public school P5 conference programs.

Pony Up!
