Because SMU is a private school, we are not subject to Freedom of Information Act requests. Thus, I am hoping that is why we weren't named. Tulane - Private ECU - Public Temple - Quasi-Public - I am not sure if they are subject to FOI guidelines.
Dumb question... If the 2 AAC schools weren't listed because they're private, why would BYU be listed? They're private too.

But for the obvious travel issues, I think BYU & UConn as football only members makes a lot of sense. That allows the Big XII to have divisions and a football championship game and leaves the core of the conference at 10 members, It would give them some flexibility in revenue sharing arrangement with the new members and also gives them exposure in the northeast which helps from a national visibility standpoint. Since the Big XII has deals with ESPN & FOX, I can't imagine the networks would have any serious heartburn over this arrangement and UConn would probably be happy to return to the Big East for Bball and other sports.
If it plays out that way, the AAC would be scrambling to replace UConn and it would definitely hurt our reputation as a bball conference. Would the AAC consider adding a football only member to offset Navy and if so, who would that be? Army has previously indicated they don't want to compete in a conference and I don't see Air Force jeopardizing their arrangement with the MWC

That is not a dumb question. Frankly, the reporter's decision to publish the story without getting the entire list is unusual. Wouldn't you want to get all the names before you published? Because state schools leak like a sieve due to FOI issues, it seems logical that the two "other schools" were private schools. (Since ECU has admitted it is out, the only possibilities are SMU, Tulane, and Temple.) IMHO - the BYU situation is fascinating. From a football perspective, they are the only "no brainer" on the list. Nevertheless, I think they are going to get left out for religious reasons.
Do unto others before they do unto you!!

They will add: Houston, Cincinnati, Tulane, SMU
North will be: Kansas Kansas State Iowa State Oklahoma Oklahoma State Cincinnati West Virginia
South will be: Texas Texas Tech Baylor SMU TCU Houston Tulane
For it to work, Texas and Oklahoma need to be on opposite sides of the bracket. This solves that, gets the big 12 further south in Houston/Louisiana. Would be awesome.
Next question - if this happens, do we put a small top deck on Ford Stadium?

List BYU as a favor to the B12 to get runner to shut up for a month and stop ringing the door bell every Saturday morning at 0700 asking if they'd like to hear about BYU football. Honestly, likely because BYU leaks like a sieve, much like the state schools. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yahoo sports (yes, I know) doesn't include SMU in the list that they have been told were invited to make a presentation.

SMU has publicly stated it remains bound by non-disclosure, which seemingly would not be the case if SMU had been eliminated.

If SMU was bound by NDA, why woudn't BYU? I tend to believe nothing said about expansion.

It's all smoke and mirrors. It is a magicians trick to get everyone to look away from Baylor's indiscretions.

SMU was included. Scout has tweeted confirmation several times today.

You don't even have to be a subscriber to know Scout said we are a finalist. I didn't even think we'd get that far so nicely done RGT and crew.
