Morris' first two recruiting classes are way better than what June brought in his first two years. Overall, our talent is pointing up in a much stronger direction than it was under June, no doubt.

The one gap is at LB. June found Davis and Tank. Instant starters, especially Tank in the middle of the year. Tank not only started, but he also brought leadership that was used to drive the team forward in a single direction. We don't have that guy yet, I don't think. I don't think there is any reason to blame Morris for not uncovering that player, but that is a difference.

Morris is still making crazy statements. He was going to revaluate who starts and have competition. The reason SMU is the way they are is because there is no competition from back ups. The twos are so much worse than the ones that everyone knows it doesn't matter how bad they are what is behind them is worse. The line coach said the line graded out horribly. The best are already on the field and the rest can't play. You just have to work with what you have. Making threats about changes that the whole team knows can't happen is wasted breath. Only better recruiting can change the lack of competitive players and that's hard to do when you're losing and putting your current players on blast.

Our linebackers for the most part, are as good as they're gonna get, "they're just guys". No insult to them....it is...what it is.

.......just put your head down and work. Stop talking.

If you have to talk, keep it positive and forward looking. Whining in public, and admitting to the world that you can't motivate your own guys, only makes you look weak, frustrated, and a little lost.

How anyone can disagree with this, and attack me, is laughable.

he is just frustrated and probably a bit shocked about how bad we really are
we just have to stagger thru this season & pray 2-10 or 3-10 doesn't hurt recruiting

3-10?
So we lose the bowl game after going 2-10? They really do invite anyone these days.

Expecting us to just dominate within 2-4 years because we have Chad Morris is so SMU. Dude has never been a college head coach before and we expect him to just come in an roll over a conference of 10 other teams, most with their own million dollar+ head coaches trying really hard too.

This is so true . Pay the money, get the wins in a few years Reminds me of the South Park gnomes episode: "phase one:collect underpants, phase two:???, phase three: profit". I hope I am wrong but I'm not yet convinced that Morris knows how to get more with less, compared to what other coaches seem to be able to do.

What other coaches?
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Reminder: highschoolfootballdad has no connection to the team. He still holds a grudge and trolls the boards because even when June Jones had completely given up and was giving out scholarships to guys who have zero business playing at the FBS level, his son still was not offered.

And if you need a refresher of how little highschoolfootballdad knows about football, he once compared Jordan Severt to Garrett Gilbert. Severt was moved to TE this year, even after two of the top three QBs on our depth chart were injured

Todd Graham when he was with Tulsa
Justin Fuente at Memphis
Every Coach at Navy, who always shreds us
Matt Rhule at Temple

I don't have recruiting class side-by-side comparisons, but they have all done pretty well with similar recruits and put some major skins on the wall for their alumni.
