I hear he wants out because of the lack of alumni funding of his IPF. Apparently we have a bunch of cheap billionaires that won't build him his IPF. I hear he's also considering firing the world's biggest College Football agent Jimmy Sexton because the idiot forgot to put the alumni's representations on the IPF into his written contract with SMU. What a [deleted] Sexton is-everyone knows verbal representations merge into and don't survive a written contract. Cheap Cheap Cheap SMU millionaires and billionaires

Isn't the SMU IPF estimated at $40-$50 million? The UH one is around $20M and apparently isn't fully funded yet. Herman got it rolling but bailed anyway. I doubt an IPF wouldn't keep HCCM at SMU for the long term. He just feels hamstrung by so many things while competing against other TX schools and the IPF is one fixable manifestation of that.

How about Seth Littrell? Too close? Not enough proven success?
I still like Todd Orlando as well. Not a Texas guy though.

Tom Herman's agent was better than the World's Great College Football Agent Jimmy Sexton because he was smart enough to actually put an IPF clause into Herman's written contract with Houston. Sounds like malpractice by Sexton. Either that or its a FIXMENT of Mexmustang's imagination that there ever was a formal representation that SMU would fund the construction of an IPF as opposed to our cheap millionaires/billionaires funding the IPF

Trace Armstrong is Herman's agent from the same company where Sexton works. Seems like they'd have some contract uniformity. Both HCCM and Herman started within a month of each other.

From 2015: Sexton is the co-head of the football division of Creative Artists Agency, which represents more than 100 professional players and more than 50 FBS coaches. He personally reps more than a dozen FBS coaches, including Alabama's Nick Saban, Auburn's Gus Malzahn, Florida State's Jimbo Fisher and UCLA's Jim Mora. Sexton works closely with CAA agents Trace Armstrong -- who represents Ohio State's Urban Meyer, Notre Dame's Brian Kelly and Penn State's James Franklin -- and Walker Jones in managing the firm's college coaches. They oversee a handful of other junior agents and about 30 employees in offices in Atlanta, Memphis and Nashville.

I've had many employees leave my company for better opportunities and I am always extremely supportive of them for attempting to improve their careers. Never ever any hard feelings, good for them.

CM's flirt with Baylor IMO was not some sort of move from Bank of America to Chase, but more like Bank of the West to AmericaCredit.com (currently under SEC investigation for fraud) type of move. I'm exaggerating but I hope you catch my drift. I personally found that odd (10 months later I feel more vindicated) but also understand he has every right to do so.

To my original point, which I stand by, I am so glad our BB program is at a point where our HC doesn't have to wh*re themselves out to a AmericaCredit.com type of situation. That is more a reflection of BB vs FB than CM vs Jank, although I do prefer to have Jank on the Hilltop over CM.

I've always found it very disconcerting how coaches straddle the fine line of hypocrisy, emphasizing unconditional team loyalty while quietly courting their next school. All done through their agents so they can deny any knowledge/contact.

Whatever, the facts, Chad wanted out, still wants out for a variety of reasons, number one the lack of commitment to football by our administration and misrepresenting our commitment to build the IPF-- before he departs. What I'm worried about it the lack of success we will have finding a replacement given our reputation as a terrible place to be a Head Football Coach.

I call BS on those 2 friends on the Baylor board. They are lying their asses off. He really didn't want the job but they laid a package on him he couldn't ignore. Did he use it as leverage? Absolutely, which every one of us would have done the same thing.......

Make up your mind - we don't have a commitment to football, but you also don't like that we bumped Chad' s salary? - which by the way shows a commitment to football.

I have friends on the Baylor board, and yes he was approached, and interviewed. I'm sure they wouldn't want him, but were targeting some NE guy with no Texas ties instead? Don't be a knucklehead.

The IPF was promised if it was in his contract. It was not. We all hope it gets done, including our administration. Probably hasn't been time to raise the money since they have to pay the 3 - 4 million deficiency every year since they all hate football so much. And yeah - we are about to prove that we are so terrible a place to come coach, you can turn your 1 M OC position into a 5 million dollar top HC position. If that happens then I'd say that was successful for Chad so cry me a river. (sarcasm off).

Some folks on this board need to get a clue.

Wouldn't Fatterson be the perfect coach for A&M? I"m not sure he would go since he is like god in Ft. Worth, but he has the pedigree and credentials to make A&M a national contender and ability to recruit on par with the likes of Texas.

Patterson has it perfect where he is. I envy him and TCU in that regard.

Can someone just bug chad's office, bedroom, and cell phone so we can put all this speculation to rest?

I am not worried about it either way. If he goes it means we now have a program that allows a coach to improve and succeed. If he stays we can continue to grow under him and hopefully improve even more.

The only ???? is who we get to replace him if and when he leaves. That is key. But we are now becoming a good job for the right person.
