stc9 wrote:The only real question that needs to be asked, "Who does SMU want to be athletically?" if we only have an athletic department because we have always had one - then fine. We know what to expect and it doesn't matter if we recruit (in any sport), put out a good product or who coaches the teams. Remember we got JJ because SO wanted to be top 25 in everything we do. We have made great strides since he has been on campus.

If SMU wants to be a national player, then the institution must hold the Head Coaches accountable for recruiting and performance. I don't know if that is happening. We want to be nationally relevant again, but does the school. If they do, then this team's performances year to date are unacceptable. What is the school going to do about it?

I firmly believe the school and C of C want us to be nationally relevant. Problem is that it takes the right head coach and staff to accomplish the goal. JJ did a great job getting the program resurrected; however, it does not appear he is the right coach to take the program to the next level. Because of financial issues the decision as to what to do with JJ is a real problem. As I understand his contract he has one more year and there is apparently not buy out. SMU simply does not have the resources to pay him next year and bring in another coach at a comparable salary. The decision is made even tougher when the team wins 5,6 or 7 games and goes to a phony bowl game.

We are outmuscled at the line. Rutgers is going to try to pound us into submission with the ground game.

Both our D and O lines have been out muscled in every game this year. In fact, I believe Montana State pushed us around more than TT, TAMU or TCU.

Who's mom can I clearly hear on every defensive play, yelling "GET HIIIIIIM, AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH"?

I guess SMU didn't make the adjustment concerning tackling at halftime

then we need to drop down to a level that we can afford. If jj is here next yr. our program will be as bad as it was before he got here. We will not have any fans left if they extend his contract. And we won't get any recruits if he is a lame duck.

I know. In the first half she yelled "Hold 'em Mustangs!" When the Rutgers back skated through the defense she went crazy "Nooooooooooahhhhhhhhhhgggggggghhhh!
