Pretty sure this team will learn from this. So, the defense stunk against Baylor...they will learn and grow against UNT, then be challenged again against TCU before JMU and the conference schedule. There are definitely more wins in this team than many thought. Might not all be on the scoreboard, but definitely there. And if they really grow and play exciting offense all year, the biggest win will be on the recruiting trail with a solidified StangGang16 and the following classes.

Yes, but it could have easily been 70-80.

The starters only played one half

They also took their foot off the pedal once it was clear they were playing a middle school team

Evaluations from spring practice made it very clear that both the O and D lines were short on talent and depth. In addition, our lack of speed and size at the DB position was also well documented. I believe this staff has done an amazing job based on what I observed this evening. They have really coached up every aspect of the team and instilled a positive attitude. I know that performing well for only 1/2 a game does not translate into any wins; however, Baylor is a top team with great depth, experience and speed and we played them very well until our lack of depth caused us to be spent/fatigued in the 3d quarter. I view this game as very positive. The team is well coached, the play calling was generally very good, the staff recruited a good frosh class and many frosh played and played very well. We all realistically knew that the goal this season was to improve, be competitive and maybe win a few games while recruiting all our weak positions and for depth. We will continue improve and I will enthusiastically look forward to the development of this team which may not necessarily be graded based on wins and losses, but improvement, attitude and competitiveness.

Well said.

I'm penciling it in right now.

When these freshmen are seniors, they're going to win the AAC convincingly.

Well if that wasn't the very definition of hanging with them until it got out of hand.

Nice game, Mustangs!!!!!!

I understand what you are saying but I think what MT is saying is that if team can't hear the signal count it could hinder us or even cause us to get a penalty for false start or something like that.

Baylor took the foot off the pedal, but we also played bend-don't-break defense against them so that they would have longer drives, and ate clock on offense so that they wouldn't have as many drives.

What I loved about the game tonight is that we tried to play them tight. We weren't 20 yards back off the line and giving them the short stuff. We got burned on a couple of long passes because we tried to make plays and were beat by some of the best receivers in the country. That type of aggressiveness is going to pay off as we get into our conference.

Thank God for Chad Morris. So encouraged despite the second half. Can't wait to see what he grows here.

Next time we play Baylor in Ford I am contacting the head of the officiating crew in advance and telling them to penalize Baylor for their band playing while we are calling signals. A couple of times they continued those damn horns after the ball was snapped. Blatant rules violation. And then they start their Alma Mater after we just started ours. Rude and crude.

I was contemplating running out on the field to tell the officials to flag their band. I couldn't think of any other way to get my message across at the time.

Playing after we started Varsity really is just rude and uncalled for. I would have thought they would be more considerate and friendly but I have known enough Baptist girls in my life to know better. F Baylor.

The 94 award goes to the SMU fan who was booted from 105 for standing during the game around Baylor fans because SMU fans sold their tickets.

Baylor band always pulls that b.s. its very high school. Typical of a university that is approximately equal to a high school academic wise.
