A face from SMU's pastModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Truly a "Classic"!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
How disrespectful to do the horns down like that. All the UT lovers will be getting on your case for posting that.
Thanks for the great picture. An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and
doesn't care who wins. -- Dwight D. Eisenhower
Yeah, you're gonna get our resident horn fan club members pissed off. But I say, screw em'!
Fear the horn hatin' mob boss! ![]()

Has this post had 95,000 views or is dat" the miller talking
Not to worry. This pic was taken about 3 minutes after the game ended and there wasn't a Longhorn in sight.
I don't know how you old guys do it. How can you go from living something as glorious as that picture to dealing with modern SMU football. I have the comfort of never knowing a winning SMU team, and the constant incompetence is just "oh, same as it ever was". Hopefully this will change.
To love and have lost is better than to have never loved at all. To have played and win at the highest level is better than to never play and/or win at any level. The tragedy isn't that we lost our winning ways and coots like me have suffered. The tragedy is that an entire generation of Mustang fans has never known the glory of winning and winning at the highest level.
It is hard for me to watch the inept Caven/Bennett teams. Mistakes, poor coaching, lack of football disciple and bonehead plays pains me from a technical standpoint. But what really hurts is never having that feeling of winning since the DP. Losing is very easy and easy was the direction SMU took after the DP. The tragedy is not losing the thrill of winning but to have never experienced winning. I am fortunate to have experienced the thrill and fruits of winning. The true lose is how a generation of Mustang fans have suffered without feeling the sweet taste of victory. Come this fall, perhaps we can all once again drink in the sweet intoxication of winning.
Boy that game hurt!!!

I was doing pretty good at forgetting that game...until now. Thanks NavyCrimson. ![]() SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
That is not the Frankie Stringer that I played with. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
