Re: Official: SMU at Memphis ThreadPuckhead and footballdad want to talk all day about all the defensive players that aren't even going to be a factor in the rebuild. Talk about a waste of [deleted]' time. There are like 2-3 Defensive players that played today that can help us rebuild the defense. See you in 3 years since this thread will be refreshed. Of course, footballdad probably won't even be around next year. But we'll all get a good laugh in 3 years

Re: Official: SMU at Memphis Thread
Patterson somehow got wins with a ton of freshmen...most on defense. If you are good, you are good. Just because a kid is young doesn't mean he cannot contribute. We need players who can play!

Worst helmets I have ever seen anywhere or at any level. Hideous
Re: Official: SMU at Memphis Thread
If MDavis is our QB and performs as he did in conference play, maybe not.
Re: Official: SMU at Memphis Thread
Several honest points/questions: 1) More than just two with this viewpoint, takes one iota of effort to see that, not that it matters. 2) All returning players factor in the rebuild. To say otherwise is, respectfully, insane. If incoming freshman have no one to compete against of any skill in practice, they won't be ready for GameDay. If returning players have no idea what they are doing, the coaches efforts are spread out across more players. If you rely on freshman and under-classmen to be your leaders, you have problems. It's a team sport. 3) Success is built on a solid foundation. Without that, it will take much longer. If none of the defensive players on this field are going to have an impact, then this will take much longer. 4) What exactly is it that you think coaches do and what are they responsible for? While the ceiling of their impact is limited by player talent, the floor is controlled by their ability to get the best out of their players and use them correctly. I worry about the experience on the defensive side...but also believe that the reality of this season will have a direct impact on how next year's squad is coached. At least, I hope so. Pretty sure everyone expects more and wants more fun the team. 100% sure all of our options combine to have 0% impact on how that future turns out. Wish more Mustangs cared enough about this team and the athletic program to demand more...hope that comes in the near future but I won't hold my breath. Hope we don't lose to many commits before signing day. Finally, I hope we can look back in 2025 and see a tradition of success and a culture that demands success which was fosters over that past decade...a culture that stated with HCCM. Re: Official: SMU at Memphis ThreadI don't know what wore me out more: this thread or the game.
I'm going to get drunk.
Re: Official: SMU at Memphis ThreadI believe Stallion said that is is going to be a couple of years like USF. Don't expect everything to come together next year.

Re: Official: SMU at Memphis ThreadWe didn't show up today. Plain and simple.
We weren't competitive in two games this year- Navy and Memphis. If you had told me before the season that we would be competitive well into the second half of 10 of 12 games, I'd have been pretty excited. And I would've thought the other two would be Baylor and TCU- not the case. Rebuilds suck because you can see the promise but it doesn't happen over night. I think we probably win 4-5 next year 2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient
Re: Official: SMU at Memphis Thread
yeah, yeah, 3 years. And if not 3 maybe 4, and if not 4 maybe ....... and our defense will still suck if Van Malone is the DC. More importantly, let's see where this recruiting class actually ranks, compared to the rest of the AAC, come February.
Re: Official: SMU at Memphis Thread
Why do you bother trolling this site? Can't wait for your kid to be gone from the program and you moving on with him. Maybe he can transfer to EWU with Burcham and Cassel.
Re: Official: SMU at Memphis Thread
Hey kids, wow, my team was "competitive" in ten of the twelve games we played that year I was in college. We were competitive. Can you beat that? We were competitive.
Re: Official: SMU at Memphis ThreadWe didn't even try today which is what leaves such a sour taste in everyone's mouth. It's worse than just losing - it looks like no one cares and they tuned out the coaches.

that just about sums it up... stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: Official: SMU at Memphis Thread
Hey moron- that post was predicated on the fact this staff took over an FCS roster that was one of the worst teams in college football history just a year ago. Anyone who has been paying attention knew that. No one is happy or satisfied about being 2-10 but success doesn't come over night, especially with the hole JJ left us in. 2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient
