No one who calls Rossley a great coach can possibly argue with me that SMU's own recruiting restrictions made it impossible to compete on an equal playing field.
Let me get this straight, I thought Rossley was a pretty good coach. That means, I cannot argue with you that "SMU's own recruiting restrictions made it impossible to compete on an equal playing field." I don't argue that. I agree with you on that. I want the recruiting restrictions changed.
Rossley did go 5-6 in the old SWC. And that was with the worst of the recruiting restrictions. A couple of years later, he went 5-6 in the 16 team WAC, with the worst of the recruiting restrictions. Cavan then went 6-5 with Rossley's players in the 16 team WAC and did progressively worse every year in the watered down WAC, with the same recruiting restrictions. I don't see how those records add up to "Rossley stunk" and "Cavan was unappreciated." I am not saying the Rossley days were the glory years, but I think they stack up comparably to Cavan's tenure.
If it were up to me, I would do what it takes for SMU to recruit anyone that TCU can recruit and be done with it, which I think is pretty much what you advocate. I hope Bennett finely gets that opportunity. I wish Cavan had that opportunity. I wish Rossley had that opportunity, too.
Stallion, you need to figure out that most people on this board have accepted what you say on the recruiting restrictions and want them changed. I know I do. But why you need to look for opportunities to fight about it is beyond me.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
