It is fun when you haven't been there in a while. After a few years of low end bowls, many of the fans fall off. For SMU it might not be as bad since you have so many bowl games in your area.

I'd rather win the Div1AA championship...Now that is a celebration...JMU went absolutely wild last year. You will never see that kind of celebration at a low to middle bowl game.

Trust me, SMU would go nuts. It was nuts when we played Tech tough in 02 or 03.

jt - Williamsburg is a great place to visit. That's part of why I like to go back every year or so for a football game. Its a nice little town. Great place to shop and eat. W&M was a fun place to go to school. And law students were near the top of the food chain as far as women were concerned as opposed to my independent days at SMU. And with it being a state school, tuition was about 1/5 of SMU's. I had no complaints. Of course back when I went there, they also didn't stop you from bringing booze into the stadium either, so it made it so much easier to watch those games. William and Mary had been to one bowl game in 100 years and never challenged for any 1-A national championship. That is why 1-AA is so palatable to them. We may yet end up there.

EastStang...Hope to catch up with you in the Burg.

My hope is that SMU, Vandy, Duke, Wake, can continue in Div1A with money games, but play a competive schedule with regional rivalries.

I hope they don't go Div1AA...However, as you allude to it might be out of the school's hands. Economics is forcing the issue. The disparity between the rich and the poor is getting worse. Also, increasing tuitions might make the Div1A game too expensive and economically unsound when you factor in Title IX.

Plain and simple it is an arms race.

I had a great visit. They say they're the second oldest american university--which is the oldest?

Harvard

Glad yo uhad a good time. Hidden amongst the campus and Colonial Billsburg is a pretty good football program. Coach Laycock [hahaha - you can't even spell the coach's name without it being automatically deleted) has been there 26 years with only 5 or 6 losing seasons.

The offense likes to throw and the program is notorious for having skilled QBs.

Still, they're not Div1A calliber in size, speed, or depth. But they could upset someone not taking them seriously. In 2005, the Tribe had Marshall on the ropes in the 3rd, and in 2004, UNC was lucky to get out with a W.

Magnolia- do you live in the "Burg" or in one of those new "golf" communities?

Alexandria, VA...just make the trip down on weekends. I joined the QB Club and will get more involved. The Tribe will be ready for Magnolia League play.

SMU's requirement is to go back to the Dickerson days helmet and uniform...I loved the Pony Express.

I live just south of Alexandria down the GW parkway and work in Old Town. Perhaps we should have a brew sometime at Founders or Pat Troy's.

I live in Old Towne....Often go to Pat's...You can find me in Theismann's all of the time when there is a good game on.

I am the idiot in the Vanderbilt hat.

Everytime request a TV for the Vanderbilt game they say "Who? Does Vanderbilt have fans?"

So we are all in agreement that a Magnolia League is the way to go.

Great.

I'd rather drop football. There is not one person that counts that wouldn't think you are an idiot.

I wouldn't go so far as to drop football, but I certainly wouldn't like us to be in such a league. Although, we may very well be relegated there at some time in the future due to football economics. Not a wish, just an observation.

I like the idea in theory. But you can't just drop out of your conference every four years.

I say we drop Stallion.
