#37 Doak Walker, RB, SMU, 1945, 1947-49
There was only one Doaker, one of the biggest reasons that college football was second only to baseball in popularity after World War II. Forget his 1948 Heisman. He made the cover of "Life"!
Honorable mention: LSU DB Tommy Casanova.

I was wondering if they would get #37 right...

Thanks. Anyone know of a good #29?

After a lot of exhaustive but obviously incomplete research, we found no one who has worn this number to meet our floating definition of greatest player to wear this number. If you know of someone, let us know.

Then it should go to ED by default. Using ESPN's definitions, and for once using all the stereotypical crap everyone likes to throw out about SMU fb to our advantage for once, ED was paid less playing for the Rams et al than when he wore 19, so if he was 2nd in the running for 19, he should get the 29.

Hang in there, Calallenstang! SMU needs more 'optimistic' fans/students like you! And what I really like is that you're the offspring of two Longhorns who supports the Mustangs and wants to go to school on The Hilltop!
