But the story does bring to mind the time Cotton Speyer and I climbed Mt. Fuji. As we neared the peak at sunrise, ol' Cotton explained that all major football programs cheat. He said, back in the 80s, UT alums paid players to pay SMU players and then rat them out.
I was stunned. Not the Longhorns!
(to the ultra-serious, this post was a joke.)
In reality, I believe it was Cotton Speyer who lost a brown envelope full of cash after one of the Cotton Bowl games. He actually put an ad in the classiifeds of the DMN lost and found to the effect of " lost...plain brown envelope with $100.00 bills inside. If found please call........" May not have been Speyer but it did happen.

It is hard for me to follow this. Is the cash coming from the OU player or the UT player or both?

It would be ironic if Hays McEachern (former UT QB Randy McEachern's son) became the starting QB. Hays is a walkon.
"Then in the Arctic half-light of the canyon, all existence fades to a being with my soul and memories and the sounds of the Big Blackfoot River and a four-count rhythm and the hope that a fish will rise."

Bomar's myspace page. Some funny stuff.
The song is funny.

I'm surprised athletic departments still allow athletes to have things such as myspaces. At least publicly viewable. They are a figurehead of the university, and things like myspace/facebook really can reflect badly on an organization.

Might bring about a few lawsuits in today's letigis society. The Bill of Rights and/or the Constitution might come into play.

It's very simple:
"By signing this letter of intent, PLAYER forfeits his right to have a public profile on the website Myspace or the website Facebook."

An employer can fire you for things you say when speaking as the collective "I", why wouldn't the same apply to the university/athlete relationship?
I should rephrase my original statement -- not restrict them from doing so but advise them to watch their conduct when d/b/that is tied to the university. Bomar's myspace is probably getting so many hits it's not funny, and IMHO it's looks bad for OU.

Sorry, guys... You all know that OU is never going to get any punishment for this, and the latest I've heard is that SMU is going to lose 10 scholarships and be on probation for 5 years.
But you're not alone, Baylor is going to lose their non-conference in basketball AGAIN, because of this.
It's too bad OU couldn't control themselves, but SOMEBODY must be punished for this.

Technically speaking, players are not employees of the university. Otherwise, mundane things like Worker's Comp might pop up and that would really put the BSC in trouble.
