[deleted] all this talk. Start dialing & typing, Gentlemen (& ladies).
Stallion's right. Graphic Artists, pipe up. Thad, do you have the resources to drum something up? Whoever does, send PonyPride an email to see if you can transfer files to the site here that we can pick up and use. Make sure that nothing is trademarked to the point we can't use it. Need it by Monday at the absolute latest. I've made five calls so far. Will start w/ my rolodex on my hotmail accounts first, then my address book here. Got a buzz into Capital One-Dallas to some people there. You wouldn't believe the number of banking types who have done SWGSB in Cox. PonyPride, can you start the buzz out to the university community. Call Pam Conlin in the B-School. Tell her I said to call her; she might be sympathetic to these efforts. (I saw her Tuesday afternoon while walking on campus. There was a possum up behind the Dean's office taking a siesta. Go figure.) Brad Sutton's office is aware of the beginnings of this. Don't know if he is on hiatus or what, but I left a lengthy voicemail (oh, what the hell...it's just my reputation...I never call the ADs office, but we gotta start somewhere). Jerry Bennett will be at his field dedication tonight in Jefferson. I think I know someone who is making the game (a former SMU cheerleader circa 1966 & her husband). I will let them know to start spreading around to their people. Everybody: keep this buzz. Report back here for accountability. Even if it is one or two folks, that's more than would have gone otherwise. This is big, ya'll, and perfectly placed. One week before high school playoffs. Limited stuff happening with other schools. Perfect football month. How many ways can we sell this thing? Mustangs35...you and yours normally go (when you are not turning in applications to TCU). Start dialing your people, Chief. Mustang1991 - How many attorneys do you think we could buzz that have season tickets? Mike Miller here...Bill Abney (CPA) and his brother. They both have season tickets. Whew. Gotta do one more thing for work...be back afterwards..... "Moderation in all things, and especially in Absoluts [vodka]." The Benediction, Doc Breeden, circa 1992
I must warn you that if this movement costs me my seats on the fifty I am coming to sit in your section and bringing my posse with me.
Neither will I! I'll start cooking up some ideas and hit the PhotoShop this weekend.

We have 28 people in our season ticket holder group (not everyone has a connection to SMU)...It's not that difficult...Tickets are cheap and what person doesn't like to relive their college days and people watch on the BLVD...
It takes an organized effort and patience...Strike while the iron is hot...Get people out this year and then sell them on season tickets for next year...It is Homecoming, you already have a reason to go... If you don't help make it fun, then I don't blame them for not going...Sometimes you have to sacrific your game watching to make sure everyone else is having a good time... Sell them on the experience and hopefully the team will catch up...Simple sales strategy...
You can always use one of mine.
Brought 5 customers on Halloween. They were delighted to get away from trick or treat. They had a blast. Unfortunately, had to listen to their poor B.S. for 5 hours. It was worth it though as most will return, with their own tickets...far removed from me (I hope).
Well allright allright allright!!!! Pro active! That's what I'm talkin' about! I have been beating on people since Wednesday, about coming to the Houston game.
How about everyone send 1 Ponyfans contact person (any marketing people out there) an email list of all their people and the database keeper can send out an email (With Graphic) to this entire list....someone who uses Constant Contact or something similar
something like "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?" - WE NEED YOU NOW...
Great thread. I was at the game on Tuesday - my first since 2000 - and had a great time. I stayed until the end and watched players throwing gloves and wristbands to kids in the stands. Bennett, Orsini and Turner congratulated the players as they came off the field and the players were PUMPED. Ford and the Boulevard are a great college atmosphere and with some promotion could/should be filled on homecoming. Before coming to town, I called some fraternity brothers to meet at the game. I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the Boulevard to see 5 faces I haven't seen since 1995. I took my dad, who still lives in Dallas, to the game and he had a great time. I think he and my brother are going to try to make the next game.
Sorry for the rambling post. After posting on this site for the last 10 months, I was really excited to see the product on the field and was not disappointed with the little D-1 team in the Park Cities (thanks to an exciting 4th quarter). If the regulars on this site can make a few phone calls or send a few emails, there is no reason we can't put a respectable number of fans in the stands. If someone comes up with a sample email, I'll be glad to send it on to my friends in Dallas.
I'll... uhm... go to rehearsal all week so that when you all show up to SMU's oldest homecoming tradition -- Pigskin Revue -- you'll have a nice good sounding band to listen to.
For more information, www.mustangband.com and email either Tommy or Don. Or call. Whatever. Just make us money. Sorry for the plug. Sir, shooting-star, sir.

I'm up at 3:45am in the morning b/c some [deleted] decided to tommyknock my back door, scaring the hell out of me, my wife, and basset hound. Fortunately, the kids didn't wake up. Called the police who did drive-by. Evidently, is common theme this evening. Full moon.
![]() Figured since I can't sleep now, I might as well get on and see what all is going so far. Saw several people this evening who are from Dallas but back in Marshall for this, that, or other reason. Told them about the game. Two had already lined up to go b/c it is generally expected to be a good game. They aren't even SMU. One was a DISD teacher; the other was a surveyor in Rowlett. I am liking the sound of things. Be at the Blvd, and then be at the game early. Alright, I'm done. Pissed beyond measure at the moment, but my eyes are droopy again. Time to try and sleep. Stupid teenagers. Sending an email to a colleague in Southlake who is an NTSU alum. In the last three years, I've dragged him to several SMU games. If one were to multiply by twenty the number of NTSU games he's ever been to (0), it would still be fewer than the number of SMU games he's gone to.
I did have to pony up for copious amounts of wings and alcohol after the last game in Ft. Worth.
homecoming is always a great opportunity for those of us living far away from Dallas to come back and visit as may of our old friends and classmates as possible...and of course to support the Mustangs and enjoy a little college football - BUT, if SMU is going to consistently fill Ford Stadium on Saturdays (or Tuesdays), we've got to find a way to reach the local community.
We've got a great game day atmosphere and there's plenty of fun for a family to have...but we've got to make that known and make it financially attractive. There are plenty of games that we know will draw poorly and I still say SMU need to copy the Dallas Cowboys blueprint by enticing families with cheap tickets for Dad (and Mom) and free tickets for the kids and their friends. Oh well, CP will be at the Houston game along with a couple of out of town classmates and a former SMU letterman. Hope to make it out to THE BLVD and meet more Ponyfans.
