I agree that may be the point, but look at it like this

We won the conference 4 times, 4 bowls and 1 win. Are we insane to think we should aspire to more. i.e. beating a MAC, CUSA, or WAC schools on a consistent basis or just recruit and try to win the belt every year. If you guys just started destroying CUSA for years would expectations not be raised.

The big 12 thinks of you guys like you think of us in the belt.

WE were the class of the Sun Belt and that got is nowhere. Other Suckbelt schools are coming into our backyard and taking recruits etc that is unacceptable

Not a true/fan donor anyway, Whats best for the program is a new coach

Yeah, with all of those guys lining up in Denton to donate seven figure sums to the NTSU athletic department, y'all will never miss him.

Don't forget, there are a lot of big time landscaping outfits up there.

We weren't born with the Silver Spoon like you guys

I agree that the donors are lining up in droves. It took balls to make the right call.

Look what happened to you guys when you let the "money guys" run the program

I don't think you understood my point. Then again, if there are droves of donors at NTSU my point was probably wrong anyway.

I hate to be the the bearer of bad news, but all 5 schools you mentioned are football POWERS compared to NTSU.

That's the point, those aren't power teams! This year we played Texas, SMU, Tulsa, Akron, and LaTech; all but Texas should be winnable. In fact we lead, or caught up, at one point or another in each of the other four games.

The media makes it sound like we play some monster OOC schedule. Since 04 we have only had one real powerhouse team on the schedule each year. The others were all winnable. But Dickey bitched about how tough it is and never expected to win. That mind-set translated to effort in preparation and mood of the team. When you are at the bottom of D1A, it's easy to complain that you are playing teams better than you, because most of them are.

Let's look at some other numbers the media isn't focusing on...

Hypothetical: your coach has 6 losing seasons out of 9 w/ the last winning season 3 years ago, has the 4th worse record in school history, has not recruited an area top 100 player for the last two seasons, the majority of the last few years recruiting classes either don't meet NCAA eligability or just don't show up, and consistantly says how bad he has it. Can any of you honestly say that a coaching change would not be in order?

If the only complaint is way he is let go, so be it. Thanks for the memories DD!

No droves... But a program can't rely on one donor and expect to do much of anything. Took RV having a 12lb'er to let Dickey go. We just hope he gets it the right when he brings in the new coach.

So who is going to be able to get top 100 talent to UNT? And if you think the Eagles are really better than Tulsa, then you guys need to join CUSA, cause you would could compete with every team... if that is the case.

No clue, someone with Texas ties would help. When LA SunBelt teams are out recruiting you in your own backyard, that's bad! I just hope RV and the Prez can figure it out...

The way this season has gone, we're not better. We have some good talent here, at least to be competative with mid-major teams, it was just misused (see "Green Team" getting us back in the game last week). I'm not fooling myself, I know CUSA won't have us until we can compete better and more consistantly. Also, it would have to be at the pleasure of SMU before we could join

Nah, we only get one vote . . . and do we play you guys next year? I hope so, cause I hate seeing that loss going without the chance for revenge

Yes @ SMU

Just an observation, but not many SMU fans showed up in Denton this year. I was really expecting a bigger showing. I know a lot of NT fans that were already planning their 07 trip to Dallas before this season started. Which begs the question, would SMU consider playing UNT regularly if it meant more butts in the seats for home games?

Plenty off us made it to Denton but the ridiculous parking, ticketing and pathetic stadium amenities meant that most of us will never return. There are at least 12 HS stadiums in the area that are more fan friendly and actually built to be football friendly. We will gladly rent you Ford stadium so you can play us there as the home team. Fouts actually made me long for Amon Carter and that is tough to do. It even made me think that the guys at UofH don't have it so bad after all.

Why are we having people from the College and University of North Texas coming onto this website to talk about losing their Dickey.
