You will get considerable help from me, as will Special Delivery. Whenver it is decided if and how you guys will participate (together or separate) I will send some money to you.

I will reserve judgement until I see the logistics of how it is enforced, but there are some things that are troubling. One thing I don't want is it to become stuffy and elitist, if there truly is demand, I don't see anything wrong with creating more spots and taking away the general, open areas but I hope they don't go overboard. Obviously, if someone is in your spot or parking spot, they should move, but I don't want them to be harassing people that are in areas no one is using or the people that just walk around.
As far as the money goes, I have a set amount I can afford to give SMU, I make my Mustang Club donation and buy 2 season tickets for Football and basketball. I will be deducting the amount for my boulevard space from my Mustang Club donation and have sent an email indicating as much, I want them to know that this will not increase the amount of money they get from me as I will be robbing Peter to pay Paul.

When will we get a fancy brochure telling us how much more our basketball tickets and parking will be?

I hope that works. I don't give CSC much credit for doing anything other than making life a pain during game day. I hope that the bordering parking areas (behind the library and around sorority park) won't be plagued with visiting tailgaters unwilling or lacking the foresight to pay the single-game fee for tailgating. I'll give the benefit of the doubt for now and I am interested to see how this works out.

Hello to ALL:
The act of increased parking and making more money is honorable. I'd do it too.
Revenue can be increase by adding more spaces. Great. The Boulvard went un-used at times last year. We are into the Blue Seat at Moody area now.
Price can be raised on the Boulevard to like 120. I have not heard of one time when people could not get on the boulevard. Supple and demand do not show a eed for a 600% increase.
Does SMU need the money - Yep.
Peace out, time to go to the gym, get my cardio in and lift some wimpy weights.

If it makes any difference to the decisions of mrydel and BUS, I wont be renewing my spot. I was seriously frustrated anyway, how many times did I pull up and find someone already in my spot? When I asked the campus police they told me that the parking spots were a "business arrangement, not a law, and that they didnt enforce those. Everyone from the administration I asked either [deleted] off or just shrugged and told me they didnt know what to do. How many times did I have to carry all my gear across campus, because I couldnt get into the spot I had PAID for? There is NO WAY IN HELL i am going to pay 500% more for a service I was barely able to use, to begin with.
I had a long speech in mind, but that will take too long. Let me just finish with this: I know several people from the administration read this board, so let me be the first one to start a new tradition and tell you straight out to KISS MY [deleted]! For Mr. Sweet and everyone else involved in this decision, [deleted] you.

[deleted]. Been down that road already, when I asked for help I got NOTHING! Screw you and the people you're making excuses for, you [deleted] arent getting another [deleted] dime out of me.

[quote="PonyCat]PonySoprano - was it enforced? Just wondering. I never had a spot north of Binkley, but I heard that squatters had become a problem for some of the peope who had paid for spots and that they (squatters) couldn't be moved b/c the areas were really "open."
Also, I e-mailed a buddy who graduated from Ole Miss (since the Blvd. is based on The Grove) about all this and he said that they have to pay $1,000 plus a donation to the Athletic Department for a parking spot at the law school (which isn't even next to the tailgating spots). Maybe $480 isn't so bad![/quote]
PonyCat - my tailgate spot is south of Binkley, so I don't have any insight to what might have happened with squaters north of Binkley. All I know is that south of Binkley I have never had a problem and I don't think others have.
Let's not compare Ole Miss and SEC football/tailgating to the Boulevard just yet.

XtC - I hear your frustration (and no one's making excuses for the old guard), but don't forget that there's a new sherriff in town - new AD, new Ops guy, etc. If they say it'll be enforced, it'll be enforced. Orsini is all about action.

Bagice- I agree with you 100%. The #1 selling point we have from a fan persective right now is the Boulevard. I have brought out non-SMU fans in the past to the Boulevard and they have loved it and want to come back to more games.
What I don't understand is that the letter that was sent with the season ticket renewal form said "Up until now, only a few lucky fans have enjoyed a reserved spot on The Boulevard with those loyal fans claiming the tailgating space adjacent to their spot. This leaves the impression that premium tailgating with convenient parking is a privilege for only select individuals."
How is requiring everyone to "buy" a tailgating spot eliminating the preception that tailgating is only for select individuals? If anything, we should encourging more people to come out to the Boulevard, not restricting it.

Sorry, PS, but I have to agree with them on this one. When my wife & I first moved to Dallas, we came down a few times to the Blvd. and felt lost. Everyone seemed to have a spot and we didn't feel like we had any place to go. We just kind of walked up and down the Blvd. watching people. By now, we know our way around, but I would have loved the idea that I could have called and just bought my own spot - even if it's on-the-cheap in Doak Walker Plaza...

I have a feeling we may be seeing the end of the Boulevard as we know it if this goes ahead. Many of the people who will pay the extra money are the people who will show up 2 times a year and want to make sure everyone knows how big a donor they are. The average fan, who maybe is already spending $500+ on season tickets for his family, is going to be made a second class citizen on the Blvd because he can't fork over another $500 so he can set up his lawn chairs and have a beverage before the game. Maybe MrMustang1965 was just ahead of the curve...

I will say this. I was there and witnessed some of the lack of response that XTC had to deal with. I just do not have a dog in the hunt. I am an out of town moocher who has truly enjoyed the hospitality of BUS, Special D, XTC, Chris Rentzel, Pony Soprano, etc. I love to be able to fly in the morning of the game and enjoy food and company on the Blvd. I hope I will be able to continue doing so and towards that end is why I offer to help with $$$. I do understand the negative vibes from those that have paid faithfully in the past and have not received what they were told. Just let me know before the season so I can still meet up with all of you guys even if it is off campus. Hopefully all will be worked out in a satisfactory fashion.
