Not 100% sure on this, but I believe Cox is tougher to get into than Carlson. Of course, since Elizee is an athlete, there may be an exception.

You're probably right. It's probably tougher to get in if you're an athlete. SMU wouldn't want to penalize the ordinary unmotivated student by pitting him directly against an athlete with the will to push himself to excel.

Rivals had him at 6" 1" 310 last year with a quick 4.9 forty time. He also had a 5.4 personal rating, which is a high Rivals 2 Star rating.

I think SMU athletes do have a higher graduation rate than the general student body but if you compare the majors taken (sometimes triple and more difficult) it may be a push with a tilt toward the non-athlete. I agree that athletes do have a tougher time in college. They are essentially holding down a full-time job while in school but many of them do as little as possible academically in order to get by (majoring in staying elegible).

I do symapthize with the athletes. They often can't take the hard majors and multiple majors often taken by regular students due to time constraints. On the other hand I see no reason to let them in a major simply because they are athletes if a regular student doesn't have the same opportunity.
