So now every black player in the SEC before 1977 was a token too? You are too much.
Ah...I never said that at all. Don't accuse me of racism when there is none.
Just because I suggest that a black head coach is a head coach because he is black does not mean anything racist. It is merely a statement of opinion.
It is RARE indeed to jump from a position coach to a HC position.
I point out that if we at least move from 1977 to the present we will bypass poor examples like Hayden Fry (who was a HC in HS for 3 years at ODESSA and was pre-affirmative action).
Does pointing out the fact that Cristobal was Cuban and his AD was Cuban and the PResident of FIU is Cuban have racist, or racial overtones?
PLease learn the differnce between racial analysis and racism.

Rules are changing, rules are changing. It must be nice to never be proven wrong because you keep changing the rules.
Explain to me again why a young white coach is intriquing and a young black coach is a bad choice.

But he became a head coach in a move from WR coach at Notre Dame to Bowling Green. Do not change the rules again.

I didn't say that.
I said Applebutter is MORE intriguing.
HOw many guys will get fired up in Texas over Turner Gill (who they don't know) or Applebutter (who they know).
As for the rules, let's keep them semi-relevant. I am sure the Knute Rockne didn't even go to college or somesuch...who knows, but 1930s are not relevant to today.

You do know that Gill coached at SMU. He recruited Texas for Nebraska. He is known in Texas very well. we even know that in Arkansas.
And maybe when you grow up a little you will learn a lot from past history rather than just being intriqued by young white boys.

This goes back to the limitations I was talking about with PhriendofPhailure back in the summer.
Of course, he'll come back with the always clever response "You're an idiot"

There is undoubtedly a place for you on Dodge's staff at NTSU.

Are we only allowed to look at their current job? You asked about coaches that have gone from a position coaching job to a HC one.
Urban Meyer did this a few years ago. The fact that he has since moved on to one of the top 5 jobs in the country does not diminish the fact that he is a perfect example of what you're looking for.
Oh, and Rick Neuheisel is another I believe. Of course that was at Colorado, so it probably doesn't fit in your ever-changing criteria.

I'll tell you right now I have absolutely no doubt that Turner Gill could outrecruit Applesause in his sleep. Now you say Applesause would get everybody excited. Who? A bunch of kds at Austin Westlake. Gill's your man to connect in recruiting. He has one of the best recruiting reputations in the Country.

UCLA's Karl Dorrell is another who made the jump from position coach to head coach.
