It really amazes me just how many willing, koolaid drinking, blind pollyanna sheep we have on this board.

1. I am not an AD, nor have i ever been one. Nor will i likely ever be one. I do, however, know College football enough to know we are screwed this year on recruiting.

And, we are absolutely being laughed at in the local and national media. and, you think that isn't noticed BY recruits? not all recruits are god-fearing, United-way-house-building Tim Tebow (although think how many TDs he could score in our $hit-ass conference...75? 100?) - most recruits are less-than-stellar-academically, immature young meathead kids. do you think they want to go somewhere where they will get laughed at??????????????????????

2. WE COULD HAVE HAD a number of DECENT ENOUGH coaches.. i know we are waiting for the resurrection of Bear Bryant, but come on already.

Please, someone report some good news.

what the hell do we do when JJ rebukes us tomorrow, 1/4/08??

I don't understand how you can say we are in a win-win position when we have already missed out on the JUCO signing period and that we have not had anybody hitting the recruiting trail for the past couple of months.

Who is serving kool-aid? You are just negative. We all agree that it would have been great to have a coach weeks ago, however we don't have one. Let's all be supportive and hope for the best coach possible and then get excited about the hire. Nothing we can do about the past....also, no matter what you post, we don't make the decisions. I trust SO and until he lets us down, you should to.

He already has let us down thanks to his inability to hire a coach to get started on recruiting. After all, the players are much more important than the coach. I don't care if we get the best coach in America, Bill Belichick, Pete Carroll, etc. would all lose more than they win at SMU with the players we currently have on defense. We have some good players, but not nearly enough of them. We need to get players in here to right the ship. At this point, the 2008 season looks to be another albatross and we are pushing back the rebuilding process another year. The silence is not alarming, it is the lack of results in what has been an eternal search. I don't think anyone would have protested about the lack of communication if the search had concluded within a 3-week period. I still don't care about the lack of communication, but unless he gets a Bellichick or Carroll type the wait for a PJ or JJ type certainly doesn't justify the damage done to this season's recruiting class.

If we waited this long for Jones and he bails on us, then this search can be considered nothing but an unmitigated disater by anyone with any sense at all, or at least any desire for good things to happen to SMU.

We have a long way to go and even though I agree that it would have be advantageous to have a coach in November, it didn't happen...so I support the search and the AD until there is a reason not to support him. If you stuck around through last season, then you can last a few more days HoopFan.

I agree and that is exactly the reason for my frustration! At this point, it is nearly impossible for anyone including a Pete Carroll to get a good recruiting class at SMU for the coming national signing day. While I agree that he needs to find the right guy, there is more than 1 "right guy". Several of them could have been had many weeks ago.

I suggest that you are all beating up on the wrong horse when you beat up on Orsini. He is not a king...he has bosses who may very well have their own ideas on what is best for good old SMU football. For all we know all that money raised for a new coach may have had some heavy strings attached. You see, we don't really know who to get mad at, but based upon Orsini's last football HC hire, I don't think he is the one mucking up the search.

I expect PK is probably right, but unfortunately the buck always stops wtih the AD when it comes to these things. If this goes bad, and it ever came out that this was the doing of Turner, I'd be all for crucifying him in the main quad.

phxfan-------I have read more and seen more about SMU in the last 2 months than in the last 20 years. No matter how this ends, SMU has gotten national publicity from this whole thing. If JJ does not come here we still have 2 or three nationally known coaches in the wings. So what on this ******* earth do you guy's want???? SO may be the best AD in the country. He will be gone if this school does not Pony up. They will, and he will eventually get back to ND. Hang on to him as long as you can.

ding ding ding!!!!we have someone that see's the big picture!!!!!!
