I'll bet the Mavs would wear those Unis if Nash were still wearing them...

Can we look forward to the Dave Smith basic uniform (with embellishments - silver helmet/red pony)?

The Hayden Fry era uniform was red helmet with white Mustang, blue jerseys and gray pants. I didn't like those because the helmets looked like the Arkansas helmets and when we played the Hogs were virtually indistinguishable. The Dave Smith era had a silver helmet but no Pony on the side, everyone hated those helmets. A silver or gray helmet with a red Pony, blue jerseys and silver or gray pants would not be a bad look.

You are correct sir.
JJ made a HUGE improvement to one of the worst helmets ever in Hawaii.
PB destroyed one of the GREATEST helmets in college football. He should have been fired for that alone.

If we win, I will begrudgingly accept any uniform choice, but White Helmet is correct. The classic white helmet w/ the red mustang passes the split-second-glance test. if you look at it for half a second from a distance, or even in your peripheral vision, you know exactly what team you're looking at. UT's helmet passes this test, as does LSU, Penn St., and too many others to mention.
Our current helmets do not pass this test, from a distance it looks like a blob of red paint on a navy helmet.
And put some red/blue stripes on the helmet. No white space in between the stripes please. No ping pong balls!
This is college football, people. Not Arena League or the XFL. What made the early 80's uniforms great IMO was not that the "Pony Express" wore them (certainly helped), but that it is a classic college football look that looks like NOBODY else. Who else looks like that today? Closest thing might be the Buffalo Bills of old. From a distance.
If you look at teams who have had consistent success over the last 4 decades or so, you will notice that their unis haven't changed in, well, like NEVER. Teams who are struggling need to realize that changing the uniform design is shortsighted and does not change the performance of the team, it only damages the tradition.
Classic blue shirts! White helmet! Red/blue stripes! RED MUSTANG! Bad assed red facemasks! White pants! STRAIGHT old school COLLEGE-STYLE (Not arena style, liquid running down the legs) red/blue stripes on pants! "SMU" on front (but not in a "swoosh!" PLEASE)!

Well said, but I would add that when you have a classic uniform then it should never be changed by ANYONE! I think Steve Orsini is a genius and I am still sh!ting my pants over the JJ hire, but athletic directors and coaches come and go. Some things should be off limits win or lose. Mac Brown won a National Championship. Do you think they would let him change their helmet to burnt orange with a white cow?
