Didn't he take a high school job somewhere in the south?

Yay!!!

IMHO, Peveto isn't the problem. Myles & Co. are not the recruiters that Saban was, and despite the fact that Tiger Nation wants to tar and feather Saban for leaving, he is a big reason, if not THE reason, that LSU has done so well the last few seasons. Talent makes coaches look like genuises, and lack of it makes coaches look, well...unemployed eventually.

Actually, Miles has done VERY well in recruiting. He has. Do I think Saban is a better coach---well, yes. LSU had two problems this year, IMHO (as well as most who follow this): 1) Malveto (the pet name for the two-headed co-defensive coordinator monster - Mallory and Peveto) and 2) no experienced or worthy QB. Fix 'em both and LSU ought to be fine.

Peveto was selected from a group of six finalists. Other finalists included NSU defensive coordinator Brad Laird, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Steve Campbell, Arkansas State co-defensive coordinator Kevin Corless, former Ole Miss and Miami offensive coordinator Dan Werner, and Abilene Christian University coach Chris Thomsen.

Our guy didn't even make the top six finalist.

A 1987 graduate of SMU, Peveto began his coaching career as a secondary coach at Trinity Valley Community College. Peveto was a four-year letterman for the Mustangs and played in four bowl games (Cotton, Sun, Aloha and Mirage). During his playing career, SMU won two Southwest Conference championships (1982 and 1984) and had a combined record of 43-14-1.

The good ol' days.

Let's get this straight: The Mirage Bowl was NOT a bowl game. It was a regular season matchup played in Tokyo, Japan.
