Regardless of where the game is, I will be there. If we make it to a bowl of course. I was born in 85 so I have obviously never seen us in a bowl game. But i always said we we finally do I will be there! I am so pumped about the rest of the season! Cant wait for Saturday

Number One - I hope we get to go bowling
Number Two- I want us to go where it will help the most with recruiting
Number three - I want us to play a team we can beat
Number Four - Because I am heavily involved in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan 9th it is unlikely I will be able to attend.

Doesn't matter. It was made. Maybe June Jones will include that story in his next book - the one on the turn-around of SMU football.

I agree.

New NCAA Ruling on bowl teams

Postby Boston Pony » Mon Nov 02, 2009 1:37 pm

If someone else has passed this on, my apologies:

From NCAA site: The Division I Board of Directors agreed at its October 29 meeting to sponsor legislation in the 2009-10 cycle that would treat football teams with .500 records the same as teams with winning records for bowl participation.

Big 12 Commissioner Dan Beebe asked the Board to sponsor the proposal to ensure that there are enough eligible teams to fill the 68 available bowl slots.

Current rules allow 6-6 teams to be considered for bowl participation, but only if the team’s conference has a contractual affiliation and all teams with winning records are placed in other games or all teams with winning records have received bowl invitations. The proposal would eliminate those exceptions and allow teams with 6-6 records to be considered immediately.

That still does not mean a 6-6 can go before a 7 win team.

After the Liberty Bowl, I would prefer the St. Petersburg gig. That is a chance to play a BSC team in a bowl. After that, the New Orleans Bowl just for the fun of the place.

yeah but St. Pertersburg Bowl is going to an East team-you watch. UCF with 5 wins would probably be a favorite. And New Orleans is great but you play a Sun Belch team.

stallion is right, an eastern div team is going to st pete. I looked up our bowl options the other day and I think the bowl in ft worth would be best for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is convinience, decent oponent and its after Christmas.

Those are my preferences, not predictions. The best bowl we can earn is the Liberty. After that, the best conference foe is a BSC conference foe. After that, best chance for a heck of a party.

And I agree a Sun Belt team isn't the most esteemed opponent on most days. But, a bowl is a bowl and a chance for a win is a chance for a win.

I would be happy in the Helicopter Bowl or even Hawaii.

Liberty Bowl would be amazing, as would Hawaii. I think Fort Worth would be the best bowl for us for many reasons. If we get there, and I think we will, the guys we have been recruiting in the area can make it. So can ALL the fans, not just the ones who can afford to fly to Hawaii. But I digress, and hope we can go to a bowl period.

Don't care we land. If we're bowlling, I'm going.

I just hope I end up booking a flight to Memphis as C-USA champs.

Never understood why they always list us as Southern Methodist instead of SMU whereas they list TCU as TCU instead of Texas Christian
