Dandy Don was born April 10, 1938 so - yeh - he was a little bit older.

I was 10 years old and very stoked at the idea of playing of SMU playing the Notre Dame. My dad got me into college football a few years earlier when SMU came down to play Rice in November 1982. He wanted to see a ranked team play like he used to watch in Syracuse and also wanted me to get exposed to college football. It had a huge impact on me as I ended up attending SMU 10 years later.

I was 11. Hadn't become an SMU fan yet.

I wasn't even a glimmer in my dad's eye then. I was born in 87.

Since my Dad, who went to Law School at SMU, took us to one SMU football game every year I have seen a lot of great players play! I remember having the biggest crush on our former QB, #17, Gary Hammond, when I was younger. The age would probably be about right for him to have been 41. Just a guess.

I was 12 and a half years old -- 6th grade. I don't remember for certain, but likely would have been at my grandparents' house in Wichita, Kansas and watching the game, since we always drove down from KC on Christmas day and stayed for about a week. I grew up in a family where watching all the bowl games was the norm during the "most wonderful time of the year."

I was watching the game on tv (it wasn't on network, but one some scratchy channel here in DC) and cheering as we beat the Fighting Irish. We didn't have cable at that point in time.

oh, I was about 5 months old. Far too young to remember my whereabouts on that day.
Larry Brown? We have Larry Brown? Cool!

26 years old, and living in Orlando, Florida. My fiance/girlfriend, also an SMU alum, was in the process of revealing that we were soon to be dis/un engaged due to an old boyfriend returning to the scene...all during a get-together at a friend's house while watching the game. VERY memorable for the great ending to the game, the sick feeling I had as I drove her to the airport the next day, and the palpable relief I had when I realized that I had dodged a MAJOR bullet by adiosing that gal. BTW, she was an ADPi, for what ever it is worth.
One year later she calls out of the blue and is ready to resume things as if nothing ever happened...go figure.
Met the best person I have ever known later in the spring of '85...never looked back, and have enjoyed 23 years of marital bliss. She is a grad of FSU, humble, and indulges my SMU 'habit' without complaint. I 'outpunted my coverage' when I married her.
Won't be able to make Hawaii this year, but will be hosting a get-together at my house, this time without the drama...and looking forward to another Mustang win.

Sophomore year. Watched the game with dad at a family friend's house (who had cable) in Labadievillie, Louisana, where we were spending the holidays with family.
