Re: Question for those that have been to Hawaii beforeRiding time. Take the east bound bus for the best ocean views. My time estimate is about 1:30 to North Shore and 1:30 back to Ala Moana Shoping Center. The shoping Center is about 4 blocks from Hilton Hawaian Village which is the west end of Waikiki Beach.
The bus ride is great for getting over last night's Mai Tai's and getting ready for the Party Tonight. Honolulu is a real ethnic melting pot. You will be going native native first class on the bus. Great education opportunity.
Re: Question for those that have been to Hawaii beforeI'm doing the bus.
Re: Question for those that have been to Hawaii beforeBurleigh, how does that 1.5hr travel time to NS compare to driving yourself?? Trying to decide if it would be worth renting a car for just a day, avoiding the $30 overnight park job
Re: Question for those that have been to Hawaii beforeThere are so many unique scenic spots(can't even describe the beauty) that you may want to pull over for and unique surfing shops etc that the rental car would be nice. Including stops and visits I would block out most of an afternoon to do it right.

Re: Question for those that have been to Hawaii beforewe just left hawaii...if you go to the north shore, plan to stop at ted's bakery...everyone over there can point it out...a few years ago we ran into several samoan football players to be...you can pig out there, take it out and keep it for later...by the way,use a rental car if you can...there are bleachers set up in some places, but there will be several places where you will want to stop ..
Re: Question for those that have been to Hawaii beforeI agree with Stallion. Driving up the east coast to the North Shore has the most beautiful views and you will need to stop and take it all in..the waves crashing over the rocks and the spray..gorgeous! And with your own car you can listen to that new IZ CD singing all that wonderful Hawaiian music as you go along!
Long live Inez Perez!

can't wait
Re: Question for those that have been to Hawaii beforeOahu is one of my favorite places in the world. It's absolutely perfect. One thing I would HIGHLY recommend is the sunset mai-tai cruise that sets sail from Waikiki beach just outside the Sheraton. It's not operated by them, but you go out just before sunset, motor around off the beach until the sun sets all while you get drunk.
The view and the majesty of it all is incredible, and it's a young and fun crowd. A lot of couples families in their late 20's, early 30's, but kids are welcome. An absolute must one night before you go to dinner.
Re: Question for those that have been to Hawaii before
anyone up for that the evening of the 22nd or maybe after the banquet on the 23rd?
Re: Question for those that have been to Hawaii before
If you can get some Pony families or fans to sign up for it, go for it. The wives will love getting bombed off mai tais and even if you don't drink, you still have a great time. Would be an awesome fan-building experience for those who do it. Plus you would get the chance to convert an entire boat full of tourists to become SMU fans. Think of the marketing possibilities! Take an SMU flag and make them fly it from the boat.
Re: Question for those that have been to Hawaii before
I am bringing my flag just for such occasions. I hope the Sheraton doesn't have any crazy no hanging flags off the balcony rules.
Re: Question for those that have been to Hawaii beforeDon't forget two little suction cups for the window for your flag.
I've desided I'm not planing anything. I will leave that up to others. You know my number ![]()
Re: Question for those that have been to Hawaii beforeMy origional post here was to point out that you didn't need to buy a bus pass to traverse Oahu.
One or two couples can have a great time going around the island in a car. Get a tour map and plan to spend the day taking in all the beauty of Oahu. Be sure to pull into Turtle Bay Resort for a beautiful view of the ocean. We always have lunch in Haleiwa not far from North Shore. Just after you cross the bridge, a good seafood restaurant is on the right overlooking the harbor and ocean. A must stop is the Dole Pineapple Plantation. The best part of this all day trip is finding your own fun things to do.
Re: Question for those that have been to Hawaii beforeI will have a car, (mestengo, RGV, Bus, etc.) if you need a ride.
