Shawnbrey announces he is leaving...and suddenly we are a top 25 program capable of beating Tech in Lubbock and/or TCU at Ford? Quantum leap, boys & girls. Let's just keep improving and hope more than 16-17,000 show up to watch the games.

Whatever, that guy probably has not seen Shawnbrey play or maybe just the Hawaii Bowl. The combines are what will make a difference. Especially since he said that Shawnbrey has "solid skills."

What's your point? MR. OBVIOUS!

We all know it would've been better for McNeal to stay another year. If he came from Southlake and could depend upon Daddy's money that probably would've happened.

However he grew up poor and due to his choices he now has 2 kids to support(as well as a sick mom). He's obviously in a desperate situation and he's putting it all on the table.

Therefore if you want to be Mr. Football Scout of the year, do it with someone else. Anyone with a reasonable amount of common sense knows he is taking a Huuuuuuuuuuuuge risk going early.

Now that he's made his decision, we as Mustang fans should just support and hope it goes well for him. He helped turn this program around. The least we can do is wish him well now that he's gone.

Which is EXACTLY what I posted on my first post in this thread. The point which flys over your head is that he didn't take his academic requirements seriously at Miami, during the summer before admission to SMU or during his "6 month academic career" at SMU. He slid into SMU through the backdoor-there's more to that story. In about 6 months he is likely going to be a 2 time college dropout without a job. Then we can analyze the true lessons in life that the "Shawbrey McNeil Story" holds.

If that happens that means Shawnbrey did more for us than we did for him. By the way, what are the true lessons?

We all understand this!

He wasn't a great student at Miami, nor at SMU. We all get it. That's too bad for him.

My point is that it's too late to fix that now. However he did make good enough grades to play every game this year including a bowl game and get SMU back on the football map.

Therefore as a Fan and the biggest loudmouth on this board about the model/SMU's ability to get athletes in who have academic risks, you should just shut up now.

What is the point in badmouthing the kid now? You weren't worried about his grades when he was scoring touchdowns on Saturdays this season, were you?
I doubt it.

Seniors invited to NFL combine: McNeal is not on the list. He won't be able to show his skills, maybe JJ will have an SMU pro day on campus for the SMU seniors.
